Is Ole Miss in Trouble?

AUHeel, who apparently is a very respected insider on AUC, has posted that he has been given info that the NCAA investigation looks to be heading to Oxford soon.

He said Rogers "represented" Masoli when he left Oregon.

He also said this looks like it could extend to SEC East schools and even outside the SEC.

Rut Roo Raggie....

Let take all the teams in the SEC west but auburn and we will clean up in recruiting with all them in trouble. Its gonna be funny if we are the only one that comes out clean. 10 years of probation for the turds would make putting up with all this crap worth it.

Remember way back maybe 2006 and there were accusations about Derren McFadden having been paid.

One of the threads onthe football forum mentions One of the people Kenny Rogers represents is... Darren McFadden.

I remember the interview, I think it was CBS, had with McFadden. I remember McFadden showing off his stereo. If I remember correctly, he had entry level stereo equipment, may have been Memphis subs and amps. That was my first thought.

My second thought was," This is going to come back and haunt him, is he insane?"

This fits right in with something Finebaum was saying the other day to the effect that all of the SEC schools should be a bit nervous about the Cam situation -- once you raise an issue, OTHER schools (he was very emphatic when saying "other") should not be surprised to find the NCAA knocking on their door as well.  He used the phrase "other schools" several times, with the emphasis on OTHER each time, yet when a caller asked him what other schools he was referring to (meaning bama perhaps), he became very vague.  Basically it was a "better make darn sure your own house is clean before you ask the NCAA to snoop around your neighbors' houses" kind of statement.

The SEC as a whole may be in trouble....

This whole thing has set in motion the SEC tearing itself apart. Of course nobody else but Mike Slive is to blame.

This is what he gets for sitting on years and years and years and years and years and years of bammer violations.

I think most on ESPN would love to see the SEC crumble. They are tired of the dominance of the SEC.

I do not remember that interview,  but your post reminded me of this article from my local news...

Remember, Kenny Rogers agency supposedly represented  McFadden.

There were also reports by The Morning News in Springdale, Ark., and KARK-TV in Little Rock in late December regarding allegations that an agent helped McFadden buy a Cadillac Escalade. KARK retracted its report the following day and apologized to the agent, Mike Conley Sr. The university investigated the allegations and ultimately determined there was no wrongdoing, allowing McFadden to play in The Cotton Bowl against Missouri.

“There’s going to be some stuff that comes out on that kid, I’m telling you,” one NFL head coach said. “Just watch. People are going to project him going way up here (among the first two or three picks) and then you going to hear about his behavior and then about this and that and whatever.”

Said another head coach: “He’s the best skill-position player in the draft, by far. But he has issues. He’s going to get a lot of questions from people, a lot of eyeballing to make sure he’s being straight with people and that they can trust him.”

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-mcfaddenconcerns022108

and this from another site.

But the agent at the center of the allegations, former Arkansas track and field star Mike Conley, strongly denied TV reports claiming he helped McFadden purchase the vehicle.

A new name creaps up.  Mike Conley.   Any relationships with Rogers et. al.??

Was Rogers behind the scene?

Nothing to this?

Are you serious??? After the long term contract ESPN signed with the SEC???  If The SEC takes a major hit, espn takes one financially and that trickles down to every talking head they have

Great point.  Which means instead of the whole conference look for one team to take a big hit.

Yep... Most likely a tier two SEC team (or two) will be given up as a sacrificial lamb.  I'm guessing one or the two Mississippi teams (or both) or an Arky or USCe.  A Vandy wouldn't be enough and they won't risk their ratings cash cows (UA, AU, LSU, GA, FL). TN would be on the bubble right now.

Did anyone listen to Wetzel on FB last week?  I think it was Thursday.  He said almost everyone outside the southeast believes that all SEC football programs cheat.  And, he went on to imply that they all think we are stupid for turning each other in.

I'm confused as to how ESPN taking a hit if the SEC goes down equates to only a few teams being sacrificed.  I would like to think that the effect a school being sanctioned has on ESPN would not be one of the determining factors used by the NCAA in levying sactions.  I think that would be overstating teh importance of espn.
