BCS Rankings?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking that since the BCS rankings take into account Strength of schedule (to a lesser extet than in the past) as well as oher polls that we may be a little higher than 6th.

We have beaten two top 10 teams after all.

THE BCS rankings come out next week. We will be 4th in the BCS assuming we win saturday. Third if Georgia somehow loses to the Vols, but I don't see that happening.

Didn't the BCS throw out strength of schedule after last year? That will be a big mistake in the future. The BCS will never be perfect but it was alot better last year. USC could potentially go undefeated with only one win over a top 25 team still get the nod over us if we go undefeated. They changed it because of last year but that was a huge mistake. Between the three teams in the title hunt last year it was really a toss up. Just cause USC got the short end doesn't mean the system should be tweaked. Oklahoma and LSU played the tougher schedule last year and that was a just tie breaking decision for the title game. Besides, USC fans should be happy they got shafted cause LSU would have beat the hell out of them.

Basically, for us to be considered to go to the Championship game, we need the following to happen:

Finish the regular season undefeated and blow out either GA or FL in the championship game.

Texas to beat OU this weekend.

Cal to be USC this weekend.

Louisville to beat Miami this weekend. (Or Virgina to beat them later on)

Texas to lose just one (or more) game(s) after beating OU...remaining schedule: OSU, Mizzou, and CO.

And lastly, Finish the regular season undefeated and blow out either GA or FL in the championship game.

So when you put all in perspective, shouldn't be too hard! ;)

Well we are in 6th now. I took Cal/USC and OU/Texas out that puts us in 4th.

The question is, if TX beats OU, does OU drop behind us?

And, if Cal beats USC, does USC drop behind us?

Some very crucial questions. We'll see Sunday.

Which is why I hate the way polls work. We beat two top 10 teams and we only 6th. The other teams have beaten nobody. I guarantee had polls not come out until this weekend or next, we would be in the top 3. USC would be out after Stanford and OU - ehh? Miami and Brock Berlin is questionable. Texas - Arkansas make them fishy. Auburn and Georgia are the only teams that look good.

you realize all the stuff you said had to happen would make us first in the nation. we don't need that. we just need to be second. not that i really think we're going unbeaten, but hey as long as we're talkin theoretical. all we need is someone to beat sc, someone to beat miami, and a perfect record. that'd be enough to at least put us at number two.
