What record did you predict Auburn would have going into the 2010 season?

I remember being laughed and ridiculed on other boards because I said Auburn would have 1 loss (trap game with MissSt) and be cheated out of a BCS NC bid. Boy was I wrong!!! I remember showing people Cam Newton youtube videos before the A day game that year. I did say that our 2010 secondary would be much improved, ooops.

I predicted a rough year last year with all the seniors leaving. I said 4 losses. I thought we could beat Clemson but I underestimated death valley. I also thought Frazier would get the nod midway through the year.

I see an undefeated season this year. Why? Defensive line!!!! Our young defensive line will be what everyone is talking about after the Clemson game. The D line along with a bulldozer fullback and his army of running backs will be just enough to have us undefeated when LSU comes to town. Close hard game and the winner of this will play for the SEC championship. Auburn wins with two touchdowns on special teams!!!! See, most of you forgot how good our special teams could be this year. The offensive line begins to come around on giving Frazier time to pass during the Arkansas and Ole Miss games. Then while most people are not paying attention Auburn begins to hit on all cylinders against a pretty good Vandy team. I forsee a drubbing. Then sit back and enjoy!!!!!

I can’t honestly tell you what I predicted, other than I predicted great things. I started with those predictions when that offensive line was recruited; it was the # 1 line in the nation if I remember correctly. That is the reason I am predicting great things for 2013 and 2014, if we can only find a good quarterback:hellyeah:

Didn't really make any predictions for 2010 but will address this year since the original poster did too.

I love to be optimistic as much as the other guy, but the thread started by saying 'be honest' and anyone predicting an undefeated or 11-1 regular season is just not being realistic..  You may honestly believe that in your own mind, but you need to get that mind checked out...  When it's all said and done 9-4 would be a great lead-in to a chance for a good run at the west in 2013....  Potential talent just cannot overcome the current depth and experience of talent at UA, LSU, Arkansas and Georgia....Sorry guys, he said be honest, but with that comes wins over Clemson and newcomer Texas AM...

I'll say 10-2 or 11-1.  A lot of it depends on how others teams react to their adversity.  Clemson had a meltdown at the end of last season, LSU was embarassed by bama in the BCS title game, Arky doesn't even have a head coach yet, and bama has a lot of holes to fill.  I think at least two of those teams will not reach their potential this year, and we can take advantage of that.  I also think that if we can start out 5-0, we can run the table.

It's all about the first two games.

If this team can 'survive and advance' in those first two, with two new coordinators a likely first time starter at QB and a new mix of players in several units, it could be a special season.

There are more challenging games later into the season but they should be better prepared to take on those challenges than they will be in games one and two.

Being honest, it is simply too early to tell with the schematic changes.

With Alabama, LSU and Georgia having lost so much experience in key positions and Arkansas with a new play caller and head coach, I think Auburn has a chance to win every game. It is too early to predict that it will happen at this point.

Realistic or not anything less than 10 wins is unacceptable in my book. You need to consistently have double digit wins to be in the SECC mix, NC mix & have the perception of an elite program.  The results and perception KEEP the stud recruits coming. You throw 2 more wins on last year and I think we get 1 or 2 of the guys we lost to FSU & Maryland. Those 1-2 additional 5*guys help win close games. We did finish strong getting 2 OLs late, but you get my point and this has been the difference for bama, LSU, etc.  We obviously did NOT get the props and positive buzz we deserved from winning the NC thanks to the media and bama’s smearing campaign. I think Chizik gets sold short by the media, but if we don’t get at least 10 wins and show we are a team on the rise it will be one more season our critics down Chizik (8-5, 14-0, 8-5) and impact the perception of our program (elite or just another SEC school ?), recruiting, etc.

We are in desperate need of LEADERSHIP, heart and determination this summer to help get us off to a good start. I hope the 5 beat downs from last year provide a burning desire to turn the tables and make a statement this year. I think we have the talent and coaching if we can develop quickly and our boys are willing to do whatever it takes. I know this is more than you asked for. Again, 10 wins minimum in my book.

I predicted 9-10 wins last season.

The upcoming season should be a little better, IMO.  The success will depend on the learning curve.  With the new staff and new starters in several key positions it could be tough or it could be good.  If everybody is up to speed with the O & D then we have the talent to be really good.  I think this will be a good season with 10-11 wins including a major bowl.  A previous poster made a great point about the first two games.  If we are 2-0 it will be very interesting to see what this group will accomplish with that early confidence.  No matter what, though, I will be a sunshine pumper and will always back our staff and players.  WAR EAGLE!!

I remember saying 2010 could be a really good year if the Newton kid is what they say he is. After all, look how 2009 turned out and we had Chris Todd for QB.  I was not impressed by Cam at A-Day in 2010, so I had my concerns going into the season. But things changed in that 1st game against Ark St, I left feeling that Cam guy is pretty good! And we might have a chance to play for the SEC...to go undefeated takes getting some breaks, so I crossed my fingers and started enjoying the ride!!! We got the breaks we needed (like at MSU, and Kentucky comes to mind) and we got better each week....I made reservations in Az after the LSU game!

Now for this year, like 2010, it's too early, although I was a little more encouraged after this years A-Day, but we still have a long ways to go. But we do have most of our big games at home this year like 2010, so because of the schedule I like our chances of having a really good year (more so than next year) so now we got to have those breaks go our way and who knows it could be really special again.

2010 BCS National Champions!

To answer your question, I predicted 10-2 in 2010. I called into the Finebaum show before that season started (when you drive 12 hours a day for your job, it gets a little boring, and since this was Louisiana, it was the only way I could hear anything about Auburn...and even then I could only tolerate so much of it) and predicted that Auburn would go into Tuscaloosa with at least a shot at the West crown. Finebaum said he saw where I was going with that. I just meant that I thought Auburn would lose a couple, but that Bama would have one loss going into the Iron Bowl and we'd beat them.

I'm glad I was wrong about Auburn losing a couple.

Honestly, I feel much the same about this year as I did 2010. I think we win 9-10 games regular season and potentially go to the SEC Championship Game. I think the possibility is there to go undefeated, but I doubt it will happen. This team, IMO, has more potential than the 2010 team, but also has a longer way to go to be championship caliber. That is not to say they can't, or won't go undefeated, but to be honest, I think we have a team capable of winning it all any of the next several years.

I remember saying before the start of that season that I didn't see any reason we couldn't beat every team on the schedule. I was asked by a bammer fan at work and I told him we'd go undefeated.

I didn't have much hope for the 2010 season and didn't bother to pick how many games we might win.  It wasn't until the game ending drive that won the Kentucky game that I realized we were good enough to win any game we played.  But I got to tell you, we won a lot of games we could have lost.  We were lucky, good, and by goosh, the refs seemed to like us too early in the year.  Of course the refs made it up in the UGA and UAT games but we were a power house by then and still won.  We were a much better team at the end of the season.  We were on another level when we played USCe in the SECCG.  In fact, I thought that if they had flipped our schedule we would not have won all our games.

Too early to tell. Yes someone will guess this right, but there is no way to know how this team will come together. The defense will improve because it cant get much worse, how much is unknown. The offense will be pretty good in the long haul with loeffler, but i would feel much better if gus was still here now. Special teams will make the difference in a game or two, and we might have the best units in ncaa. Chizik has still not lost a close game as auburns coach, or not one that was expected to win.

12-1 in 2010, and 8-5 last year.......8-5 this year

You picked us at 12-1 in 2010 and 8-5 this year? Wow...you'll have to forgive me, but I find that a bit far fetched. Now don't start listing all your reasons for believing these things, because I know they exist, but I simply cannot fathom how someone who calls themselves an Auburn fanatic (note: I'm not questioning that aspect) can look at the team we have coming back, the players that everyone else lost compared to us, and the easier schedule compared to last season, and not think we'll have a better record...especially if he predicted 12-1 two years earlier.

2010, I believe I called for 7-8 wins.

Gotta give you props for being consistent, at least.

There is usually a thread on here for every season called something like "5 predictions for the ---- season".

It seems like I predicted AU to win the West in 2010 and play in a BCS game, but I'm not 100% sure.

I felt like we had a good chance at surprising a lot of people but was not sold in our defense or the QB position (I was very wrong there).
