Um, not really. Was it stupid, dirty, unsportsmanlike and....stupid? Well yea. But it's not years of players being paid extra to cause injuries. 8 games max.

The Lakers only have 1 regular season game left, so he'll miss more than 2. What I think they'll do is suspend him the final game + 7 to make sure he misses a playoff series.

This guy represents everything wrong w pro-ball. He's a child, a thug, & a complete idiot. If the league had the stones to do what is necessary to take back control of the game they would have fined him $50k for beating his chest the way he did for a less than impressive dunk, fined him $200k for the guy's concussion, fined him $250k for his 2nd altercation in a single calendar year, & then thrown his butt out of the league for being a da on multiple occasions. They won't though. The NBA is too inconsistent with their penalties, rules, overall treatment of it's players. Players rule the game.

This is a joke, right?  This isn't even close to the Sants scandal. Ron Artest is just an idiot.  I think what he did was completely classless, but I also think walking up on someone after a huge dunk and trying to bait a reaction is pretty classless in and of itself.

not a joke at all. Saints were paying for injuries that were supposed to be clean hits, and never even accussed of dirty shots. This dirtbag leveled a guy with an elbow from the blindside, after a play.  It caused a needless concusion and could have done worse.

In 1998, Karl Malone did the same thing to David Robinson and didn't even get a foul called, in fact, Robinson was called for the foul.  Robinson was unconscious for 2 minutes and received a concussion but Malone was only fined $5,000 and given a 1 game suspension.  Both incidents were ugly, hopefully they will get the punishment right this time.

With this idiot's history of ridiculous play I would support either a suspension from the entire playoffs or like a 30-game suspension next year. I think that is a firm penalty but more realistic than a lifetime ban or even a year's suspension (although I, personally, would support either).
