I look 4 UA WRs D.Carswell & M. Bowman & QB P.Sims to announce they're transferring (Sims probably to Va); RB Dee Hart is 60/40 to transfer. - Danny Sheridan

I thought Carswell & Bowman were already gone. :dunno:

Don't know why Dee Hart would leave.  Yeldon has only been there a couple of month's, surely Hart isn't scared already.

I don't know a thing about P Sims.

Saban will have to process around 10-12 or so players for the fall roster, so might be best to get the process kicked off in high gear.

Heard that bama hit the 85 limit when the 12th LOI was faxed in on NSD 2012. They signed 26 for the 2012 class.

26 - 12 = 14 will have to be processed. However, I think they did a back count to the 2011 class, not sure of the numbers there. And whatever else they can use to subtract from 14 to get to the total they have to cut from the team to reach 85. Saban will have to cut less than 14. I am guessing around 10-12 players will have to be eliminated.

Unfortunately, Mr. Sims found out the hard way that bammer likes it's QB's to be good 'ol boys who keep their mouths shut, agree with weeman without question, and just "manage the game".  Sims should have never fallen for their sales pitch.  Maybe he at least got a nice car out of the deal????

That's Mr. Sims fault then.  Because anyone that watches SEC football the last 10-15 years knows that uat doesn't utilize a prolific QB in their system.  They operate with a dangerous/shutdown defense, a good running game, and they want a QB that makes few mistakes and manages the game, period.

So if he was lured in by their sales pitch, he and his parents should done a little research before they signed on the dotted line.

So this thread got me to Sheridan's twitter feed to see what he was saying.  While there, I saw him answering questions about the "bag man" (still says witness won't come forward), and saw that he follows

What a joke of a man.

I realize Hart hasn't transferred yet, but I've been expecting that one for a while now. At least his high school got something out of the deal...

Yep. Agree.

I wonder how Clinton-Dix feels about this?

Someone yesterday said he may be on the chopping block as well.

I don't follow what the bama beat writers put out about bama.  Have any of them listed what their scholarship numbers are like Evan did for us so we would know how many are on scholarhips and how many more are coming in when their 2012 class go on scholarship so we know what their oversigning situation is this year?  Have they identified which particular players are on the chopping block and are being encouraged to give up their scholarships so they don't exceed the 85 limit?

They can't hide this like they used to.  Not sure when these reports are due, or who can request them (reporter, average Joe, etc...), but this is from the updated version of the SEC constitution:

13.9.1.2 Annual Reporting. Each member institution shall annually submit a written report to the Conference

office for the purpose of detailing the enrollment and scholarship status of all scholarship football student-athletes

and all prospective student-athletes signed to a National Letter of Intent, Conference Financial aid agreement or

institutional financial aid agreement. Each member institution’s annual report shall be reviewed by the Conference

Chief Executive Officers and Athletics Directors. [Adopted 6/3/11, effective August 1, 2011]

I have seen that before and when I saw it I didn't think it really changed anything because it sounds like it is a once a year snapshot.  They could never be over 85 on the scholarship numbers at any time anyway so I don't quite see what it changes.  There was something about incoming players enrolling in the summer not officially going on scholarship until fall quarter that seems like was addressed too, and if so, that would have an impact as to when they had to free up scholarships.

What you really want is something that reveals what the situation is and to do that there has to be adequate detail about a lot of things that is up to date at all times.  Basically you need to see how they justify how many NLIs they give out against their current scholarship count and the expected number of scholarships that expire because of graduation, leaving early for the NFL, etc.

As I understand it, the Big Ten has limited the number of NLIs to how many it takes to get to the 85 limit taking into account the number of seniors and juniors leaving for the NFL, but not to exceed 25.  I think recently they allowed 2 or 3 for attrition but that had to be submitted to the conference with a reason.  That and the SEC's success in the BCSCGs is why some Big Ten fans have been crying foul over all the ways the SEC has oversigned.  Limiting the number of NLIs to 28 and then to 25 and having the SEC approve medical scholarships was the SEC's response to all the negative pr.

I haven't run the gump numbers this year and do not really plan to. They ended up at 83-84 I believe going into Febuary. Then signed about 25. None of the back counting or other stuff counts on the 85 limit, it is a simple and hard cap. So, all that really needs to be done is figure out how many seniors and early NFL draft juniors are gone from last year's team and add to it the current signees assuming all qualify.

My guess is the gumps will need to cut about 8 players in the next few months. They will start telling some to pack their stuff and get lost now that their spring tryouts are complete.

The turds will be okay this year with the scholarship numbers.  I think they're down to 84 already.  It's next year when all the "processing" will come. They have 8 senior scholarship players on the roster and they already have 11 2013 commits.  With weeman's arrogance, I expect them to sign a full class just to compete for another mythical recruiting championship.........then deal with the oversigning later.
