This is one kid I don't feel sorry for in the least in being "processed". He knew from the get go that saban has never ran an offense that would fit his skill set. Kid has a rocket arm and can move. Unless your best skill his handing off, you have no place in that offense. He should've signed with WVU or Virginia Tech.

Quote from Sims.

"This was a very difficult decision because I've had a great experience at the University of Alabama and I'm thankful for the opportunity this program provided me," Sims said in the news release. "I want to thank Coach Saban and the coaching staff for being with me and my family at this time. I wouldn't change anything about my decision to come to Alabama and this has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. The reason for me leaving is nothing more than a personal matter. I just need to be closer to home to support my family at this time and that needs to be my priority right now. I would still like to continue my football career, and hopefully I can do that and also be there for my family."

McCarron actually had more pass attempts then our top 3 QBs combined. But oh well.  :wedance:

So you're saying that the turds could have won it all without a running game?  They're quaterback is asked to manage games, not win games.  Manage games = don't lose it for us.  McCarron is average at best.

I don't like McCarron one bit but I think he's the best QB to play for UAT in awhile. With Trent Richardson gone I think they'll lean a little more on him to pass this year which he seemed to prove he can do--hope I'm wrong.

Funny how the players that get cut now all come out with the same standard cookie cutter response now that saban has been taking a lot of heat for cutting players. Tough decision, great time in turd land, personal decision, closer to family, etc. Wonder if the turd PR department issues the statements for the players now as part of their severance pay from UAT.

Because at the end of the day, nothing has chnaged, bmaa has to cut some players and there will be about 6 more of these in the next 2.5 months.

I just believe that he left for playing time.  You don't cut your back-up QB when he has the talent that Sims has.  There are plenty of less talented guys on the bench to let go. They now drop to a RS B/U that has no where near the talent of Sims, who was one play away from being the starter. That would not be smart football and even though we may hate the weeman, he is not dumb.

Again, I am with you on this one. People seem to imply that NS is cutting guys in his two deep rotation to make room for unproven HS seniors that have never played a down.

People seem to treat HS recruiting as being equivalent to the NFL draft. That, or they really think NS will sacrifice depth and quality players so he can sign up proven guys (whom he can later cut to make room for more unproven players) just so he can be ranked #1 in recruiting (which comes with no trophy or bonus). I am no expert, but that does not seem to me like the prescription for winning NC's.

I mean what about the guy he cut to make room for Sims? I can understand people thinking NS is evil, I can't understand them thinking he is stupid.

As I have said in the past, as our roster nears full strength, I think we will hear a lot less about other teams "processing" players. Especially when we start having to pass on 4 & 5 star guys in order to keep guys who have had ample time to prove themselves and have yet to crack the 3 deep rotation or to contribute at all.

I agree. I haven't given him much credit, but he played great in the NC game. I watched their spring game and he was very impreesive. That kid is a very very solid QB IMO.

You are probably right. I have probably become to cynical about saban's actions over the past few years. Bama has to cut some players, but Sims was probably not one on that list. Good points. Honestly, I did not know if Sims has been any good for them or not or who their other qbs even are. I remember Sims because he came from a high school down here in south florida and was a big time recruit that was talked about a lot here. Other than that, I haven't paid any attention to him since he became an irrelevant turd player.

Could be he just left for playing time but his position as backup was set before spring practice and he had to know that he had no hope of changing that.  Do you think he would have left if bama really wanted him to stay... I don't?  I didn't catch where he said where he was transferring to, just that he hoped he could continue to play football.

Would anyone want Philip sims on auburn? I think he would give Kiehl great competition.

When I read this post I thought for sure it was a4e. No not really. He couldn't beat out McCarron, and IMO Keihl has a much higher ceiling than AJ.

Eh, another turd throw away. Who cares? I don't. Saban is smart. There is no denying that. Does he tell these kids and their families what they want to hear? More than likely. Does he lie to them? Who knows. The amount of players that have been processed cannot be denied or sugar coated. The ONLY reason saban agreed to the four year scholly deal is because he thought it would damage his recruiting if he didn't. And if you think he agreed to the four year scholly deal out of the goodness of his heart and because he wanted to do what was best for the kids, then all I can say is that you have to be the most gullible, and most blind person on this planet. Saban does nothing for the good of his players, only for the good of saban.

He manages bama's roster like an NFL team. The media would light Chizik & Auburn up like a pinball machine if guys got processed like this.

War Eagle !

Actually the media would probably laugh CGC out of town if he "processed" his second string QB. Then again, applying the same standard, some might say we "processed" our 1st string QB (not to mention an H-back and at least on B'ball player).

I can't imagine ANY coach cutting or processing, or whatever you want to call it, a player in his two-deep rotation, just so he can sign another unproven 17 year old HS kid. Cutting one 4 star player just so you can sign another 4 star player is illogical.

On the other hand, Cutting a guy who is not doing everything he can to be a contributor so you can sign someone who MIGHT is a very rational move.

I wonder how many of our fans would want us to pass on highly rated HS talent wanting to come to AU just so we can hang on to players who are just taking up one of our 85 slots and are not contributing or competing at an SEC level (excluding those not contributing due to injury).

As long as there is an out to the 4 year scholarship, there is no such thing as a 4 year scholarship. It is all semantics.

If you really want to stop players from being cut or processed or whatever, make it a 4 year scholarship irrevocable for ANY reason. Then, if a player leaves the team for ANY reason (draft, drugs, death, grades, injury, etc.) he can't be replaced until his 4 years are expired. That would eliminate ALL incentive to force a guy off the team.

With irrevocable schollys, UAT would not be able to replace any of those guys who left early, regardless of the reason. We also would not be able to replace Dyer, trotter, Phillips, and the 4 guys who got in trouble.
