Do not know if anyone heard the interview with Ben Tate, but he was seriously considering leaving Auburn until Chizik took over as head coach.

He stated that after Franklin left, things went down hill in a hurry. It was not until Chizik and Coach Luper came in that Tate began to rethink his decision.

"Once Coach Chizik, Coach Malzahn and Coach Luper got there, just from talking to those guys made me want to stay," said Tate. "Coach Chizik said that if I came back, bought into what they were doing, was a leader and showed the young guys the ropes and do things the right way, 'I'm going to give you the ball as much as you want'.

"And I'm not a guy that just buys into what anyone says, but there was something about Coach Chizik and how genuine he was when he said it."

Tate was also convinced by Luper, his new position coach. Luper is a former college running back.

"He had been there and done it," said Tate. "You have more respect for a guy who has played the position, who has actually been back there, grabbed the ball and ran it."

"With Coach Luper, I feel like 'Running Back U' is in the best hands," said Tate. "He helped me. Coming back my senior season and playing for Coach Luper was the best decision I have ever made.

Should make us feel even better about this coaching staff.

Glad he stayed and just more evidence of how Coach Chizik is the right man for the job.  Ben was a big asset to Auburn and he's doing great in the NFL.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. There were a lot of things he helped restore order and trust to.

Hadn't seen that interview before, nice read.  Definitely glad that Tate changed his mind and stuck around.  CGC has been great for this program, hope he's here for a long time.

You notice Coach Chizik wanted the family close. Coach Tuberville seemed to distance himself from the family.

There was no escape no matter what he was thinking once this staff stepped foot on campus, serious personality upgrade with these guys.

I wish Tate could take back his dunk (or fumbles) from the Northwestern game. Would have been a nice way to show support of the changes & undue need of transferring.

i hope i forget about that one day but i doubt i will. that pissed me off.
