Not sure how the rest of the fam feels about this, but I'd really love to see this guy sneak into a starting role in the upcoming season. I really think he will be a stud in the upcoming years in the orange & blue! Boring topic  ;D but I'm just ready for some football!  :wareagle:

I'm right there with you. I've gone on record saying JW is one of my favorite players on the team. I don't think there's any way the coaches will be able to keep him off the field. WDE Jermaine!

....and none of them are trying to either. That's just plain dumb to keep our best playmakers off the field.

Oh he's going to get playing time, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he starts (depending on how T Bell's injury works out and how healthy Chris Davis can keep himself...and those two things may or may not affect it anyway), but I doubt he starts at safety. He can play it, but I've always seen him more as a corner. Ergo, I think he either starts at one of the corners or he'll be the nickel.

Jermaine has impressed me with the way he's come in with something to prove. You might remember that he was a late addition to the class when we cooled on Roberson (who started as a true freshman at Florida before getting into legal trouble, if memory serves me), and it's like he's used that as motivation to show everyone exactly how good he is.

Whitehead and Therezie are going to be playmakers on our D. I just hope they are ready to do it this year! I think Therezie would be great at safety but it sounds like he was starting as CB during the spring. Looking forward to seeing how our defense improves next year since we seem to have the pieces.

When I see the name 'Jermaine Whitehead' I think future All-SEC performer and NFL Draft pick.

All the potential is there. We just have to wait and see how it plays out.

To be completely honest...more than half the team has that kind of potential. The level of talent from top to bottom of the roster is absurd. We have 35 freshmen and sophomores who were rated four stars or better out of high school, and that's not even including such talents as Sammie Coates and Zeke Pike.

Yeah, I get the feeling that we're gearing up for one of the best runs in Auburn football history...and we've had some pretty danged good ones!

As stated, Whitehead will play or even start.  He is in the top 5 DB's and the coaches have shown they are willing to move guys around to get the best 4-5 guys on the field.  If he does not start, I would expect him to come in as the nickel back or be the first off the bench for CB or S.  He may be our best DB at both coverage and run support, and can make plays.

I see the top 5 guys as Davis, Bell, Therezie, Florence, Whitehead..........Then McNeal on the first level for starters.

Others who can fill in: Rose, Mincy, Smith, Fisher, White

We have good depth at DB.

He's gonna be a great one. Having him and Florence at safety is gonna be disgusting....

Davis, Therizie, Whitehead, and Florence will make for a solid secondary!

although, i think it is just a little coach speak to fire up the "favorites" in the safety positions, i like hearing them throw out fishers name ... just makes things a little interesting.  they did the same thing with means about this time last year and he played very little.  i hope the guys with all of this talent will work hard to show that talent.

After watching Whitehead play last year, I am convinced this kid is not only smart, he is a very good football player. It is early, but I think he will be a great one. I think we will see him playing in the NFL.

I do think he will see the field more this year though. He seemed to have a really good spring and A Day. :dunno:

 The only time Golf is with an abundance of youth is when his grandkids visit. He is, however, a good guy. Just don't ask BigBird to confirm that.
