It's gonna be interesting to watch as the UM thing unfolds.  If the sanctions are harsh, we could benefit, not just with the likes of Kearse, but also think of, just as a possibility, Deon Bush.  Kevin Olson also thought to be a UM lean right now.  Harsh punishment could, I think, have a greater impact on recruiting at UM than it had at tOSU or USCw, where it obviously has had no impact.

I just cant believe anybody wants us to touch this kid considering the discipline problems we have already had with Dyer and the four players arrested for armed robbery. Just asking for more problems and more criticism from the media in my opinion

Personally, I dont want Kearse because of some of the baggage he has

He was really young, and I'm not sure when the last time he was actually in trouble. But, looking back at when I was 14, 15, 16 I didn't do anything that was really smart. I was just lucky enough to never get caught. At the same time, I can understand the concern, and I still have a little myself.

We will get slammed by the media regardless of what we do. So let's do what is best for Auburn. If that means Jayron Kearse, then let's get him. If it doesn't mean him, let's find the next best fit. Either way, I say War Eagle!!!!

If CJB still wants him, I trust his judgement.

Well, keep in mind that "evaluation" at this time includes interviewing teachers, counselors, coaches, etc,.  In this way, we get a better feel for the kid as a person, looking at his integrity and character.  Sure, mistakes are made, but we learn from past errors and miscalculations.  I'm with you, if CJB wants him, I trust him.

If the coaches still want him then I do too. The media is and may always be against us.  CSL and CBVG aren't gonna take any crap. They let these kids know that being an Auburn  man is a privilege. I feel like they will help keep us away from some of the negative attention we've received in the past.

For everyone who doesn’t want him due to his past baggage:

You shouldn't be so critical of a child. Coming to Auburn may be the thing that changes his life. A ton of kids use college sports to escape the life they have grown up in. Neighborhoods, Cities, slums All of these things influence a child as he's growing up. Getting out of that area could change a young man forever, for the better.

It doesn't always work but it works more often than not. Our coaches are more than just coaches. They are mentors, teachers, and father figures. They are there first and formost to build strong young men, Auburn men, Not just to win football games.

I just cant believe anybody has such a hard line with out being read in on the situation.

For all of those that think taking on players that have had troubled past is always bad you need to remember this guy...

I don't think too many people would call that a bad move...

For everyone who does want this kid, just dont complain when the media and fans of other schools continue to label Auburn as a school who is willing to win at all cost

It is also not Auburn's job to give every kid a second chance. Probably serve some of these kids well to learn there are consequences to your actions, instead of teaching them you can get away with anything as long as you can run fast or jump high. That usually just leads to a sense of entitlement that causes more problems down the road

Anyone who believes this is true need look no further than at Shon Coleman and Mike Dyer. One is still here, the other is not. If Auburn were really willing to "win at all costs", I'd venture to say it'd likely be the other way 'round.

You're absolutely right. It's definitely a case by case basis. And no one is closer to the situation than our coaches. They've told talented and interested kids to hit the road in the past, and if they see reason to do so again, then I have full faith that they will.  But if they want Kearse (or anyone else for that matter) as a part of this class, then so do I.

I don't care what others think.  I know we do it the right way.

^^This^^  :banghead: I agree with bird

I know how painful that was for you...
