ACC might be shrinking

FSU and Clemson are apparently pretty pissed at how the ACC gave away all of the teir 3 broadcast rights for football etc. If you are a football school in that conference you are screwed now IMO....FSU and Clemson chatter everywhere of jumping ship.

FSU is talking big 12......Clemson says Big 12 or SEC....but our markets overlap with both of theirs so I doubt either gets accepted into the SEC

I think that Clemson and FSU would be great additions to the SEC for a number of reasons.  One, it would put Missouri and Texas A&M both in the west where they naturally fit.  Two, they both play in-state SEC teams as permanent rivals.  Three, they are historically very good football teams.  Four, they have a history of playing other SEC schools, making them naturals, so to speak.

The only problem is this is all about tv markets......and they share the same tv market we already have..

True, but the market share within the same TV market would go up and it might go up outside that TV market because of the quality of the games played.  Would you rather have SMU than FSU or Iowa State over Clemson?  Big time football games tend to draw viewers from all over whereas only the most devote fans will watch mismatches.

They would be great fits but pretty sure FSU and Clemson are being blocked from joining the SEC by Florida and South Carolina. Apparently they have the power to do that. I personally thought Louisville would be a great addition but Kentucky is blocking them.

After watching the Big 12ish soap opera ,

it appears to me where ever you are really needs leaving bad to want to hook up with Bevo.

Slive has said we'll not raid ACC, and I like that.

However,  if FSU and or Clem start the ball rolling you know SEC will be game on.

I hope we go after  NC St. and VT.

I had forgotten about the Bevo factor but now that you mention it, I would not want to be in the same conference with Texas.  You would have to be in a pretty bad spot to want to be in THEIR conference.  And as far as them joining the SEC... don't ever forget that when their old conference, the SWC, imploded the Big 8 (Oklahoma, Nebraska & friends) took them in only to have Texas take over and treat them like second class citizens, which is why Nebraska left for the Big Ten.  And that Bevo attitude might have had something to do with aTm leaving the Big 12 as well... maybe.  :)

First - I love the "SemiHole" reference! Havent heard that one since my grandfather passed away.

Second - I would love to see Clem and FSU in the SEC but its not about what fits best or would be the most fun for the fans. Its TV markets - and FL/SC are already on lock. VT and NCSt would be more likely. Remember FSU already wussed out of joining once...........Prob AU's fault!  ;D

For what it is worth, VT is my favorite team outside the SEC. Almost went to school there - loved the campus but will admit I was EXTREMLY underwelmed by the stadium - so I chose AU  :P

But, do you think all 18+million people in the state of Florida only watch the Gators?

The SEC would gain a significant increase in the TV market share on that state.

Bring on FSU and Clemson.

This but only as far as FSU is concerned.  Florida's pop is about 18.5 mill. and the brand can be expanded.  South Carolina's pop is just over 4.5 million and USe's reach covers that state well.

The SEC would rether have the huge DC and expand our east coast market and get VT and NC St. That would put Mizzu in its right division and slide a team closer in the east like Tenn.

Living in the Raleigh area, I would love it if NC St. joined the SEC.  However, they are a founding member of the ACC.  It may be tough to pull them away unless the ACC ship is truly sinking.
