Every time I burn a DVD, it warps and is no longer able to be viewed.  I think the flames have something to do with it.

Try using a 3rd party program like Nero or one of the thousands of free ones on the net. Windows media player is garbage. Clone DVD 2 (trial is fully functioning for 30 days) is one of my personal favorites.

A few simple fixes that may work...

Is the disc a DVD-RW or  DVD-R ?

I have random problems when I used a +R

did the disc "finalize"?

I had a similar problem years ago when I firest started.  I do not remember the fix,  but the cause was DVD's that were not finalized.  If they are not finalized they will not work on a DVD player.

By any chance did you burn the FILE to a dvd and not a rendered movie?

The 'puter will still read the file,  but it needs to be run through a movie making program like Wndows Movie Maker to be played on a lot of DVD players. Like mentioned above there are better programs to be had.
