Exit Stage Left - The Hot Seat Challange

Alright, who are your top 3 coaches that will either be fired or resign this 2012 football season.

1) Derek Dooley - UT (don't see him at UT after this year, regardless of wins)

2) Mark Richt - UGA (I think his 9 lives are up)

3) Mack Brown - TX (Texas fans are tired of low performance with top talent and he as been with TX for 14 years)

Just my shots in the dark, what do you think, who are your picks?

The Georgia Tech contingency has grown tired of Paul Johnson and the option. He fails to attract big time talent with it and Georgia gets raided by out of state programs like Auburn, bama, UF, etc because of it. I think if he has less than 9 wins including a loss to UGA, he's got a chance to get canned. (BTW my Dad is a Tech grad and this is his along with most of his Tech buddies' sentiments)

1. Dooley at UT. He's done.

2. Mack Brown. He's getting old.

3. Chip Kelly. I think he leaves Oregon for an NFL job if he doesn't win the Natty title.

You have a good point on Dooley.

I think you are wrong on Mark Richt. Georgia finally developed a bit of a mean streak last year. If it carries over this year I believe they win the SEC East.  I just don't see a lot of strong teams in SEC East. Fla is still rebuilding, SC just can't seem to get over the hump and nobody else has much in the East.

Mack Brown should have been gone for a while but he did win an NC and that seems to protect him. With Talent he has they should be top 5 every year. Big 12 is even weaker this year then last losing Mo. and A&M he might find a way to win just enough to stay on.

The other coach to watch is the bama boy at Clemson. With meltdown of D  at end of year if that carries over and if we find a way to hammer them it could start a snowball effect next year. It is a team that has shown the ability to fold and give up.

Agree with 1 and 3.  Mack won't go anywhere.

I agree with 1 and 3.

Dooley is in over his head, and I'm not sure he can win enough to get back in the good graces of the fanbase even if he wears those awful orange pants every day of the week.  He has a roster that is more experienced, and has talent this year, and a decent QB.  That alone should collect a few more wins.  I just don't know if it'll be enough.

Brown was just in the BCSNC game 3 yrs ago, so IMO he's safe.  He gets the pick of the litter talentwise every year.  Gathering 5*'s is like shooting fish in a barrel for UT.  I imagine the UT admin will give him this season to do something with that talent.  But, he needs to show marked improvement, especially with a lighter schedule.

Chip Kelly is gone to the NFL if he doesn't get the ducks to the BCSNC this year.

I dont think Dooley is done just yet. His team was just seconds from far exceeding expectations and everyone is aware of that mess. Richt is always on the hot seat but I think its going to take 7 wins or less - possibly completely missing a bowl game to send him packing.

Mack Brown is a good pick but its hard to fire him unless you know you can bring in Bill Bellichasd;il(sp? cant think how to spell his last name at the moment, but talking about the Patriots coach) TX isnt going to settle on anything less than a BIG TIME, PROVEN, winner.

Ill take the Mullen, ND HC (why not? lol), annnnnnnnnnnnd Daboooo

1)--Derek Dooley: Yeah he inherited a mess, but from what I've read he's extremely incompetent. Listen to what his players said about him. 6-6 for UT this year. He's toast.

2)--Mack Brown: Sigh...I hate to say this, kind of being a Horns fan but the bloom has fallen off the rose for him. 8-4 for Horns this year, will "resign" and the emotional impact of his final game will give Texas a beat down of A&M ( :bananadance:) in the Cotton Bowl.

3)--Will Muschamp: Where to begin? I remember saying I'd eat a hat if Florida ever hat a losing season a couple years ago...and they came darn near close last year. A 7-5 season in Gainesville this year will make things even worse in the Swamp.

I'm thinking Mullen may be getting close (although you have to question if State can do much better). IMO Muschamp will get at least one more year of under-performing. Unfortunately, I think Richt keeps doing just enough each time he is getting close to the hot seat. I'd be shocked if he ever coached in a national championship.

1) Dooley - For all the reasons previously stated.

2) Mark Richt - Not just because I hate them ALMOST as much as I do uat. But once again they are loaded with talent as they have been many years. Even though they caught on at the end last year they are not stacked at receiver and one of the best they have is going to have to play DB cuz almost all their guys are serving Mult. game suspensions. They have a'lot of RB talent but they ALL seem to have issues. If anything happens to Murray, Richt is gone. AM saved his a$$ last year.

3) Paul Johnson - I agree, Tech fans have seen enough triple option. They have NO SHOT at elite O talent. It affects recruiting for D as well. They will have to win 9 + a bowl game if he wants to stay IMHO.

I'm impressed fj

Thanks golf, I'm a huge Rush fan :)  :hellyeah:

One of the best concerts I've ever seen in Birmingham (at Boutwell Auditorium)!  General admission...my brother and I stood right in front of Geddy Lee.  These guys could bring it...especially "the Professor on the drum kit".

Some non-SEC names:

Bo Pelini at Nebraska. Has lost 4 games every year in his 4 years. Frank Solich was canned while having better seasons than that.

Randy Edsall at Maryland. True he's been on campus for one season, but that one season and the entire time he's been there has been a disaster. Almost every player of note has transferred, and his recruiting is horrible.

Tommy T. Poor Tubs just seems to be going through the motions now, and only interested in collecting a check. Why am I not shocked?

Good call on Pelini, I think he is out unless he has a great season which he will not. And I agree with you on Edsall he is a complete disaster.

I didn't know this, well TT's dang sure had a ton to spend over the last dozen years.

Didn't Edsall get Stefon Duggs to committ to them? I don't think that's poor recruiting.

My interpretation was that SD picked Maryland for location and from local pressure. I don't think it made a difference who the coach was. I was guessing that SD was a Gator before it leaked out that he would be a Terrrapin.
