Google it.  Good luck finding anything more than a follow up story from 2010 When The Bham News stumbled upon the lawsuit filing.  Nothing in the Tuscaloosa News or Birmingham News at the time it occured.

Saw someone say earlier today that his main Counsel was some big shot Attorney out of Cullman.

Kind of funny that one of the biggest bag men, post Logan was some Attorney from Cullman.

And I think they have some big Attorney from Cullman on the BOT too.  Bet ya bottom dollar you will never hear another word about this case. And "Ro" will never do a day.

Lets do a quick compare and contrast...

Eric Smith - AU fullback. Not all SEC. Not All American. Not drafted by NFL. Basically role player for AU that started 2 years.

Offense: Hitting person in back of head after an altercation in a bar.

Result: Probably a dozen article written about incident by state media. Entire story known and discussed by both fan bases regularly due to focus by state media.

Rolondo McClain - UAT linebacker. All SEC. All American. High NFL draft pick. 3 year starter. Team captain. Enshrined in UAT "walk of champs".

Offense: Damn near attempted murder. Hits student with vehicle, not once but twice. Leaves scene. Comes back to scene with more bama football players (unamed of course). Physically assaults him again resulting in permanent injuries, oral surgery, dental procedures, etc.

Result: Minimal reporting. No suspension. Mostly swept under rug.

Moral of the story?  If you're gonna go out thuggin, you'd be better served to go to uat?

This may be a dumb question, but would that be considered an unallowable benefit by the NCAA?

I think he meant that the VICTIM required those medical procedures, not McClain.

Yes, if got treatment not afforded to a regular student or non-athlete. You are not allowed to benefit from your status as an athlete, beyond that of the scholarship.

If he got it from a non-booster, it only impacts his eligibility; if he got preferential treatment from a booster, then it would impact both his eligibility and UAT.

I heard the decatur pd was happy tp see him go to tuscalooser out of hs.

I heard a few things about him while he was in high school.  :dunno:

trouble maker, menace, bully, thug.. his name came up often in these investigations that go nowhere. From my decatur pd source. He must have behaved ar uat.

It's the perfect situation in turdistan. They have made it such a vacuum and a black hole there, where information just cannot get out. They can bring as many troublemaking kids in there as they want, as long as they are good players, because the state media will not report any wrongdoing unless it involves Auburn.

If the same situation like the McClain thing happened in Auburn, and an athlete hit a guy twice with a car, then came back with a group of other players and beat the guy senseless, it would have been NATIONAL NEWS.

The headline would have read:

TROUBLE IN AUBURN: AUBURN FOOTBALL PLAYER AND OTHER PLAYERS INVOLVED IN GANG BEATING OF AUBURN STUDENT

Apparently he's a badazz both on and off the field.  He'll fit in great with the Raiders.
