WarDamn2010 183
I know the family of a man who slaughtered his girlfriend...he got 37 years. That sentence is absurd. I realize what he did was wrong but he deserves no more than 10-15. Jmo.

au_bsci_04 407
Still seems like a high price to pay for a 1st offense armed robbery. With any luck, he will do what he needs to do to get out sooner. Tragic on all accounts, senseless!!!

Jonesy 1
I think that's too much for an armed robbery. That said, I can't say I would feel the same if I were the victim.

telling tiger 156
I agree, tragic on all fronts., but , sometimes when you put your hand in the cookie jar, you get a lot more than a cookie. There is a message in that sentence that needs to be understood.

Armed robbery during a home invasion. That's some serious stuff. In this country we have a feeling of sanctuary about our homes/residency.

AUcivE09 582
Awesome! Glad to hear they are locking this criminal up! I dont think the "party" icon or the word "awesome" is appropriate - but I agree he is a criminal and I am glad they are locking him up. AU should not go lightly on anyone, being a college town, whether it's a football player or not. Just to add a little comment material - Rondo would not have made it at AU after what I have read, and I am glad we do not give preferential treatment of athletes. Now we just need to have updyke cleaning up at JHS and TP from toomers, and fry up another certain person.

Iron_chin_chiz 0
This is way too harsh. This has nothing to do with it being a former Auburn player, he was only here a year and did nothing but embarrass our university. This has everything to do with a kid with his whole life ahead of him that made a huge and stupid mistake but hurt no one getting a sentence similar to murderers and rapists. Desmonte Leonard better get put to death based on this outcome. I hope Goodwin can turn his life around and not let this unjust sentence push him further down the wrong path. YaBoyMaxWeezy 0
Sorry, I've had a family member robbed at gunpoint before and don't look very fondly upon people who partake in this type of criminal behavior!

Armed robbery is a violent crime along with the two you mentioned. Desmonte Leonard is charged with 3 counts of capitol murder, I believe the punishment for that is, in fact, death. telling tiger 156
This sentence is within the established sentencing guidelines for the crime. These aren't arbitrary decisions, they were established long before Mr. Goodwin made his decision. A similar crime in Texas that I am familiar with just received an 18 year sentence for an attempted home invasion and robbery. A mom at home with her children at night, while dad was working. A neighbor saw it as she was coming home and called the police. He was arrested about 2 blocks away. Mom had a weapon and was going to protect her children. That would be another point Mr. Goodwin needed to consider. It was bad enough on every front, yet, could have been so much worse. Actions and consequences. Somehow this still escapes people.
