We are going to have many options at WR this year.  Between Blake/Coates/Bray/Reed/STallworth/Benton and incoming freshmen Louis and Williams, we will not be lacking for any talent.  I don't see the coaches giving too much slack for mistakes, and will throw in guys willing to prove themselves.

Benton has the kind of ability that, if the light comes on for him, he could be looking at a Bilitnikoff (sp?) type of season...but I don't really expect him to be the one that happens for. I am, however, looking forward to seeing what Melvin Ray can do.

Why? I heard he's a terrible player.  :dunno:

You're learning.

And Jaylon will have a great career at AU.

He's very much the type of receiver our staff likes.

I posted a similar thread several days ago. I really think he's gonna be GOOD! Big, physical guy with great hands and seems to be very hard to cover.

I read some interview with Trooper last year where he said not one practice had gone by that Jaylon had not taken a huge hit or dealt with major physical activity. His point was the kid was tough as nails " already a MAN. That said, Benton got more playing time so something is missing or needs improvement.

War Eagle !

I told Jaylon after a game last year that he had big shoes to fill - wearing #89.....Smoove was one of my all time favorites.....He laughed and said "Yes M'am- he knew it....

They are always so respectful...

With Melvin Ray on the squad I doubt any of our other receivers get many balls thrown to 'em so the question/answer is moot.

Just can't leave it alone can you?

No...he spends a LOT of time down at the indoor watching them work-out.

I would put a great deal of stock in what he says.

Really.

So here is my question. When I get NCAA 13 next month and add Melvin Ray to the team what rating am I supposed to give him?  ;)

According to AUQBDAD's other thread, he will be lucky to make the practice squad.  Probably a 57/100 on NCAA.  Make sure to tell all the other teams this...

Yellow is the color of cowardice, and I'm scared at how a kid this bad could make the team.  :banghead:
