OLB. The battle between Frost and Evans. Talent vs Experience.

Good Question!  This year more than any I can think of we have returners battling against young talented players.  I think the OL battle for the top 5 positions will tell a lot.  I feel like it may be down to one spot left with the likely candidates being Westerman, Mack, and Miller.  I also  think Evans starts at OLB with Garrett the backup over Frost to begin the season.  KF is likely the starting QB.  The WR positions opposite Blake is up for grabs still.  Reed and Bray are in a tight battle at slot.  There is a nice battle at DT, but I think they all play.  Same at RB.  Same at DE at least top 4 rotate about equally for playing time to keep them fresh.  A really good battle at DB positions with Whitehead getting into the mix.

I do think the DL and RB positions will be committee efforts. Thats the benefit of having depth. I do think Frost and Evans will take their battle into the season. Holland and Bates may have some competition too.

I think a lot of people have overlooked the secondary battles too. I think Davis is locked on one corner, but McNeal, Florence, Therezie, R. Smith, Rose, R. White and Whitehead will all be fighting for three spots. Some players may have to change positions to put the best guys on the field, like perhaps Whitehead to safety.

For me it has to be across the OL with the exception of center. There is good young talent and those that can mesh together have the chance to be great.

I am paying the most attention to the defensive tackle position battle! There is going to be some fierce competition there, among many other positions.

For me it's probably guard. Robinson and Dismukes are pretty entrenched at their position, and I think Slade will probably win the other tackle spot, but between Sullen, Mack, and Westerman, I'm not sure which two will start. Smart money is on Sullen and one of the younger guys, but :dunno:

I am with you on this.

linebacker.  Frost will make a great impact.  Just seeing which young guys will take spots or be in heavy rotation because those are guys who will be in that spot more than likely for the next 2 or 3 years.

WR #2 behind Blake.  Our QB is gonna need someone to step up this year.  We gotta lot of new talent coming in, should be fun!

I would say O-line but it I think I got a pretty good handle on how that is going to shake out. I am intrigued by the LB position and exactly what the  D-back rotation is going to be.

Nice call. I really hadn't thought about that, but when Blake was out last season, it was a glaring concern.

We need another WR threat too keep teams D spread out more, and will give Blake more room to make plays.

QB, of course.  Beyond that, RB.  While I agree that it will be by committee early, I think one will step up and be the workhorse and get the 15-20 carries/game.  I don't think it will be the "hot hand" type of situation.  And I do have a favorite. ;):dunno::tease:

We definitely need at least one other threat, but I'd really like to see two of the sophomores/redshirt freshmen step up and into a major role. That way we aren't hurting quite so badly when Blake and Lutzie move on to the NFL.

I like the DB rotation as a choice; I thought about that as well. I really don't think the QB battle is going to be much of a battle. I like Clint, and I do sincerely believe he could be successful as an SEC quarterback if given time in the pocket. But Kiehl is just on an entirely different level.

I like pops' assertion that we're going to end up with one workhorse, but I also think that the term "workhorse" is fairly relative, because I think the touches will be spread out amongst at least three backs.
