Great showing for Auburn June 24, 2012 CROMWELL, Conn. - Former Auburn golfer Roland Thatcher tied for fourth place at 12-under after shooting an even-par 70 in the final round on Sunday at the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. Thatcher shared a tie for the lead heading into Sunday afternoon but struggled on the front nine bogeying on Nos. 1, 4, and 6. After making the turn, Thatcher birdied on No. 12 before carding an eagle on No. 13 to get within one shot of the lead. After bogeying No. 15, the 2000 Auburn graduate birdied No. 17, but bogeyed on No. 18 after approach backed up into the bunker as he fired at the front pin to finish at even par. Former Auburn golfers Will Claxton and Gary Christian also finished in the top-20. Thatcher's approach shot on 18 was soooo close to getting over the bunker and giving him a great chance for birdie to send it into a playoff.
