War Eagle Moment

So, today was my first day at the FAA academy in Oklahoma City, OK. I was the first one there and people started showing up shortly after me. So, after getting my badge and talking to a few of my classmates, I noticed that one of the guys who showed up shortly after me had an AU backpack. I said "Sorry man, I just saw your backpack or I would have said this earlier...War Eagle!" The guy lit up and I got a big "War Eagle" back. Only 12 people in my class and 2 of us are AU fans. In Oklahoma City...over 800 miles from Auburn, and still found a member of the Auburn Family. Could have been in a commercial.

Nice. I met an Auburn student in New Zealand once while on spring break from studying abroad in Australia. I asked the study abroad office and they said the two of us were believed to be the only two current Auburn students studying in the southern hemisphere at the time :)

Good for you! Since you have something to do with the FAA could you get rid of bird permanently??????

I might be able to arrange a bird strike...but a bird that large would likely cause some damage. Although I've never seen something that big and awkward take flight.

Had a WEM in Antigua a couple of weeks ago.  A girl from Texas said her grandfather and much of her family went to Auburn.  They were Texas A&M/Auburn fans.  Her grandfather she could go anywhere to school except UT and UAT.  Unfortunately, we saw some bammers there, too.  They're hard to get away from.

As a fellow Auburn Houstonian... War Eagle!!!!  There are a lot of us here.  I'm gonna drag a bunch of these A&M jokers back to the Plains next fall to see how we do things.  Looking forward to the Alumni Association watch parties too!

Best part of being here is that I don't know a single Bammer, but my office has 10 Auburn grads!

:party::wedance: :wedance: :party:

We were at a trade show in Tulsa a couple of months back. Our outside sales rep and I were talking up some people from the City Of Norman. We are full gear into our sales pitch and we let out that the both of us are Auburn grads. Sold. He is an Auburn grad as well and we hung out all week tellling stories of our Plains and talking football. We are going back soon to wrap up the account. War Eagle!

Not unusual to get a WAR EAGLE at any aviation facility with the Aviation Program at Auburn, as an Auburn grad and an airport manager I can tell you I get them in all my travels.

The random "War Eagle" will get you far.

I was in Tuscalousy last week (the daughter had cheer camp) and on the last night several parents had come to watch the competition and pick up their girls' luggage.  Almost everyone was wearing that crimson or houndstooth crap.  You'd of thought it was a Saturday in the fall.  Anyway, I walk into the dorm lobby and passed two gentlemen, one of which had an AU on his shirt.  I gave him a "War Eagle" and he gave me a wink.  I was so grateful to see orange and navy and talk to a family member in a foreign land.

My wife and I were in Helen,Ga. 2 years ago in winter. Since most of our winter clothes are orange, blue or a combo and have big AU on them somewhere,we heard a somewhat familiar cry with a pronounced Asian accent. We turned and saw a group of Asian students all decked out in AU garb. Had a great few minutes with them and most were students at AU. They had fallen in love with the Plains and all things AU. They made a couple of old guys happy, and we smile every time one of us mentions it.

Sorta related I guess. I just took my daughter on one of the scheduled campus tours for potential students. The guides tell you beforehand that when you see another tour, you have to yell War Eagle louder than them. We did, and I thought it was a great way to get kids used to War Eagle spirit.

On a side note, the history of The Lathe as recounted by the guides is a bit sanitized from what I recall!

Really?  Do tell.  I've only ever heard it from the guides.  That may be something I should know before I get down there in the fall :P

I was in a Chick Fil A outside of Daytona (Ormond Beach) on Monday having lunch driving from St. Augustine to Orlando for work and saw a teen age kid in AU hat, shorts, shirt. I went up to him and said War Eagle and he lit up pretty good. Seemed like he was surprised but spoke with him a couple of minutes and him and his family were headed from West Tennessee to the keys on vacation. He said he is surrounded by Vols & Vandy folks. I understand as I am surrounded by Gators!

I was walking down a street in MEXICO the other day with an Auburn shirt on. It caught someone's attention and to my surprise, 4,000 miles away from home, the most beautiful words known to man were screamed at me.

I travel most every week and on most trips I get at least one War Eagle in the airport or on the plane as I usually have my 2010 National Championship hat on my bald head.
