What are your top 5 favorite AU teams of your lifetime?

I am not necessarily talking about championship teams.  Here are mine:

1.  1993 team-  Even though Bowden was the coach this was my favorite.  They overcame so much, and even though they had nothing to play for they found a way to win them all.  I truly believe they would have found a way to beat just about anyone.

2.  2004 team-  Top to bottom I believe this was the best ever on The Plains.  I would have loved to have seen them play USC for the title.

3.  2010 team-  Again a team that overcame so much (Cam Newton situation and a not-so-great defense) to win it all.  I personally witnessed the comeback in Tuscaloosa.  That was priceless.

4.  1988 team-  The first AU team I ever saw in person (8 years old at the time).  That defense was fantastic (Rocker[both of them], Roland, Brian Smith, Riggins, Shan Morris, and all the others).  They weren't great on offense, but were solid with Stacy Danley, James Joseph, Vincent Harris, Reggie Slack, Lawyer Tillman, Freddy Weygand, Walter Reeves, etc.

5.  1989 team-  First time Bama comes to Jordan-Hare they are undefeated and ranked #2 and the Tigers took them down!  Enough said!

My birth year - 1982... (I was started to follow Auburn football in 1992)

1. 2010 team - A lot of CamBack and that's why Harvey Updyke is sooooooo pissed off! #1 - no question!

2. 2004 team - A huge mess with BCS system but great season!

3. 1993 team - Patrick Nix was my favorite player back then...

4. 2000 team - Rudi, Rudi, Rudi!!!!

5. 1997 team - average team but Dameyune Craig is fun to watch!

BTW, you just made a great thread to start! :we:

1.  1972, the Amazins.  True underdogs who had a terrific season against all odds.

2.  2004.  Top to bottom, the best team AU has ever fielded.  I was deployed for the first half of this season, but enjoyed watching the rest of it.  A shame they were left out of the title game, especially with Oklahoma's poor showing against USC.  Loved Cadillac, Brown, and Carl Stewart on offense and the entire defense.

3.  2010, Cam the comeback kid.  I loved the way they manhandled Oregon.  I was deployed for all of the season, but got to watch the NC game.

4.  1983. Bo, Little train Lionel James, Tommy Agee, and Randy Campbell on offense and Victor Beasley and Gregg Carr on defense.  Al Del Greco on special teams.  Great team.  Go Bo Go!  Only loss was to TX that year.

5.  1993.  11-0.  Stan White (played against him in HS).  James Bostic and Stephen Davis - animals.

2. 2004, Should be National Title.  :pcprobs:

3. 2000, Rudi Johnson is a monster.

4. 1997, Craig was a baller for Auburn, now he's a thorn in our side in the recruiting world.

5. 2007, Tebow never beat Auburn and I love it.

For a second I thought, "Wait a minute, nobody is going to include "The Amazins"...good to see we got some old timers in here. The rest of the list is pretty much a no brainer  except I did love that '89 team and the way they finished the year with the win @ home against bama, then the dismantling of Ohio State....sweet victories right there!

1. 1983 team - National champs regardless of what any poll says. Played one of the toughest schedule in college football history. Greg Pratt tradegy in August. Defense, special teams, smashmouth running, and clutch.

2. 2010 team - Just a magical awesome year. So much redemption for Cam and sticking it to the entire country for all the hate. The Camback, the heisman, and the BCSC. Just one of the most gratifying years ever for me as a fan.

3. 1993 team - On probation, written off, coming off a losing season, Dye gone, unranked, was supposed to be a complete disaster of a year. And oh yeah, the other team in the state just won the NC. Instead a perfect magic season culminating in Nix to Sanders and Bostic putting the boot down on the turds.

4. 1989 team - Some tough loses, but some of the best wins ever and won the first IB in JH. Very underrated team. Was one of the best in the country that year.

5. 2004 team - So much fun knowing we had the best team everytime we took the field and by a wide margin. Just an enjoyable and comparatively relaxing ride as we were on cruise control in every game but 1 and completely dominant all year. Still think the most talented team in AU history.

Since I'm more on the young side, I'll stick to seasons I actually remember (though as a history grad, I sometimes feel like I remember things way before I was born).

1. 2010 - Probably the standout season to anyone born in the 80s or later, for obvious reasons. National Champs, a well-deserved Heisman winner, and amazing comebacks (highlighted of course, by 28-27.)

2. 2004 - The championship that should have been, but a legendary season nonetheless. In fact, I feel like we hear more about Auburn's missed opportunity this year than we hear about national champs from other years. The 2004 Auburn Tigers have their names etched in football history even without the crystal trophy.

3. 1993 - I was a bit on the younger side, so I relied on older folks to let me know how excited I should be. As the product of a mixed marriage (I love my dad in spite of his flaws) I had a choice to make, and this is the year I really remember choosing the light side of the force.

4. 2009 - Plenty of disappointments (midseason slump, the comeback loss to UAT), but something special was brewing for Auburn, and the way the team rallied after the blowout losses showed the guts and determination that they would need even more the next season. The humble leadership of Kodi and sudden offensive explosion are also highlights of the first season of many under Coach Chizik.

5. 2012 - What can I say, I am an eternal sunshine pumper and optimist. Here is to shocking the world and turning heads once again!

1892 team- because it was our first ever football team record 2-2. They also shut out the SOB's from Ga. Tech

1913 team- won our first conference championship Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association and was undefeated.

They are pictured below, great group of guys.

1957 team- First national championship and coached by my great Theta Chi fraternity brother Shug Jordan. Enought said

1972 team- THE AMAZIN'S team didn't have great talent but had more guts and heart then any other Auburn team I have ever seen Before is a mini-doc of their season.

http://www.theamazinsmovie.com/doc.html

1982 team-  "Bo Over the Top" game because we finally snapped 9 longggggggggggg years of losing to turd Byrant. I was watching the game with some ex-Auburn players and at the end of the we were crying like babies. Then we when out and partied like there was no tomorrow. Damn the wife's got a little pissed at us

Enjoyed the mini-doc of the '72 team. Before I was born (sorry golf), but heard about it many times growing up. My mom and dad both graduated AU in '73 or '74 (I know they were there for Sullivan's heisman year and and after). I think I may ask them what there favorite 5 seasons are just out of curiosity now.

1) 1997. This year is still quite special to me because I went to every single home game, including the Iron Bowl, after being knocked into a coma during late July. To this day, I honestly believe the motivation of going to those games is what got me off the hospital bed so quickly.

2) 2010. It was so beautiful to see that season after dealing with UAT and its idiot fans through 09.

3) 2004. I knew absolutely nothing about Al Borges before this season, but I loved the presnap shifts he incorporated into the offense. Going into Wal-Mart to get snacks after going up by a touchdown on Tennessee, getting stuck in line, and coming back out to find Auburn having scored 17 more points to begin the rout.

4) 1993. I watched the AttitUde tape that was made for that season probably a few hundred times, quite literally, while growing up. To this day, I can still quote Jim Fyffe's call of Nix to Sanders in the Iron Bowl from watching it over and over and over.

5) 2009. It's amazing what a little hope can do. I hated the way we closed out the regular season, and losing to Kentucky hurt really, really badly, but between the WVU game, the refusal to give in even after losing to UAT, and that incredible Outback Bowl against Northwestern, there were a lot of good moments. Add the recruiting show that Chizik and company were putting on, and it was pretty fun to see the bammers crying and moaning about how we weren't supposed to be able to compete with them like that...

1) 1983 - I was in college at the time and got to meet more of the players.  I guess football seemed more important then since I did not have many responsibilities in my life.

2) 2004 - In my opinion the best team ever fielded by Auburn.  Although as me and my friends have discussed many times we feel the 2003 team had more talent, they were not coached well.  The 2003 team had a better defense.  Tubberville saved his job when he hired Al Borges and Gene Chizik.

3) 2010 - National Champions !!!!  This was not the most talented team we've ever had but they had HEART.  They never gave up.  Gave up way to many points but just found a way to win.  Cam Newton is the best player ever to wear an Auburn uniform.  I never thought that I would say anyone was better than Bo.

4) 1993 - Loved this team.  The best team no one ever saw (TV probation).  I saw several of the games in person and they really knew how to win.  Terry Bowden did a good job when he had Dye's players.

5) 1972 - This is the first team I ever saw in person.  I was 10 years old and got to see the "PUNT BAMA PUNT" game in person at Legion field.  I have been addicted to auburn football ever since.

1.  1983 - I believe this was the best team ever at the end of season.  Unbelievable schedule, especially if you look at each team and where they ranked when AU played them.

2.  2010 - To go through so much and still win

3.  2004 - Who doesn't really believe this was best team in country that year?

4.  1993 - Probation could not stop the SEC Championship Game from being a consolation game since Auburn beat both uf and bammer.

5.  2002 - so many injuries, yet never quit fighting.  nobody gave them a chance against bammer, but Tre Smith, Robert Johnson and company had other ideas.

Honorable Mention:  1981 & 1988

1. Tie 1982,83 -  I loved those teams. Randy Campbell wasn't the most talented, but he was just a cool QB and leader. To have Bo Jackson and Little train Lionel James in the backfield,  '83 added Brent Fullwood. What a fun time the 80's were.

2. 1993 - 11-0, 11-0, 11-0! Best team on radio.

3. 2004 - First BCS team, and the best Auburn team on both sides of the ball maybe ever.

4. 1986 - My favorite Auburn receiver all time. Lawyer Tillman. He always caught those deep throws and that was exciting, but his run in the Alabama game was really exciting.

5. 2010 - Cam and National Champs baby!

Dorian Gray- A handsome and narcissistic young man....He begins to indulge in every kind of pleasure, moral and immoral, which eventually leads to his own societal demise.

This fits you to the T. Minus the handsome and young thing.
