Who will be our KRs for this season? I'm thinking Reed and Bray and Mason mix it up

I hope Reed is one and blows up doing it. We have been hearing about him for 3 years if you count recruiting and he has not produced much.

I think Onterio's a lock, but there are several different possibilities for the 2nd guy. I see Reed taking back his PR job where his elusiveness suites him better. Bray and Mason both hit the holes without hesitation and I could see either one getting KR duties.

Who knows, I'd like to see a DB step up to the plate.

I think it will be O-Mac and Bray. Mason will get more carries this year so I think they take him off KR to keep him healthy. PR I see Reed. I think he comes along this year. 2 years ago he got hurt and redshirted. Last year he showed some flashes. If he can make the first person miss look out! Dark horse in this race for me is Corey Grant, got to get him the ball some how.

I think the rules changes mean that we will be starting 1st and 10 at the 25 more than we will be returning kicks this year, no matter who our KR is.

I agree with that assessment about the kickoffs. Not sure what the NCAA folks were thinking with that change. There will be a lot of 1st and 10's at the 25 this year.

The NCAA is basically trying to make the kick return a non-event on the premise that it will help avoid injuries.

Ya gotta at least have the threat and  I expect Omac and Tre to stand at the goal line and watch a lot of kicks fly over their heads...but IMO, it will depend on the opposition and how they play kick-offs.

Likely, the weaker defensive teams will try to avoid letting AU return kicks and will try to put the ball out of the end zone.  On the other hand, strong defensive teams (Bama, LSU and some others) will now be more likely to try and stop their opponents inside the 25.

Remember, the defensive players are also closer to the returners and should be able to cover shorter kicks.    Might still see a lot of returns but returners will not have as much time to assess the situation... and blockers will be on them sooner.  I still have painful memories of the LSU game and how quickly their defenders were on our return guys.

I agree 100%!!! Im kinda split on if its a good idea by the NCAA. Kickoffs is one of my fav parts of the game and will hate to see it go away completely, but on the other hand when you go back and look at it everytime there is a injury on the kickoff its usually a pretty devastating one.

I think this rule backfires on the NCAA.  Big surprise, huh?  I have a feeling that kickers are going to start perfecting their technique on kicking high, shorter kick-offs, that drop around the goal line.  With the defenders closer to the return guys, you are going to see guys who elect to catch the kickoff get blown up by a full-speed special teams bulldozer, thus creating more injuries than the way it used to be.  I hope I am wrong about this, but I don't see a lot of teams conceding the ball on the 25 yard line every time.

Best of luck to our KR's, that they avoid injury.

The fact that KRs get the team's momentum going and the fans' as well. This rule kinda deprives that.

I could not agree more and think that Auburn will also be perfecting the sky kick.  There is no reason to concede the 25 if you are even closer to the returners and have solid special teams.  I expect this to be a one and done rule for the NCAA and hope noone suffers a serious injury from this rule.

Prosch as KR.  The other team will be too afraid to try to tackle that man when he has a full head of steam!!!!  :yay:

Would definitely like to see him as the lead blocker...sickness on display!

I expect Prosch will be there on the ten or so looking for the first guy that appears to be coming through.
