Auburn vs. LSU

This game I am really REALLY looking forward to. I'm sure you all remember last season how ruthless LSU was on kick-offs and just blasted our players. I want our team to show that intensity this year! I know I'm looking far ahead, but I haven't forgotten about that game, and I'm sure our players haven't either.

For all the cheap shots LSU got away with last year, I'm sure our guys will be ready to rock.

I call helmet to helmet hits on return guys cheap shots, maybe it's just me.

Not just you, I was yelling at my TV here in Texas about the helmet to helmet action! :banghead:

I think JP will bring them something on kick offs that they have not seen in a long, long time.  Smash mouth blocking!

I am sure the players remember and the coaches will remind them of the lsu players saying the the Auburn players just quit in last years game.

i wouldnt consider helmet to helmet a cheap shot...plus, if that wouldve been craig sanders making a hit like that on a lsu player we'd be talking about how awesome it was...war damn!

It's an illegal tackle, ergo it is a cheap shot. And if Craig made a tackle like that on an LSU player, we'd be praying for the LSU player, not talking about the "awesome" hit; that boy don't do anything halfway, and while I have every faith that he would never intentionally tackle someone like that (besides having great form, that's just not his style), if he did, then the victim would likely leave on a stretcher. Of course, two years into watching the special teams warrior tear through blocking schemes, he's yet to even approach a dirty hit, to my knowledge.

I wouldve said it was an awesome hit..nobody got hurt..when i played in high school i got the hell knocked outta me a couple times, helmet to helmet, but that just motivates you to hit them back harder the next play, thats the fun of the sport.

"When I was in high school..." Dude, I don't know where you played high school ball, but this isn't high school. This is the SEC, and players are ALL bigger, faster, and stronger than anyone you ever got your bell rung by in high school. I was on the receiving end of the hit of the week my junior year when my QB put the ball high and in front of me. I never saw it coming. But that hit pales in comparison to hits that happen virtually every play when you get to this level. The trauma that comes from such a violent redirection of specifically the head in this kind of collision causes some serious injuries. Talk to old NFL players who played for 10 to 15 years about what those kinds of blows do to you over time. Even if it isn't immediately recognized, by the time a player is done, he'll be lucky if he can form a coherent sentence.

There is a reason that rules have been put in place guarding against such tackling, and it's not because the sport is getting too soft.

I had an interesting dream last night that we were in Miami on Jan. 7, 2013.  It was an odd occurance: 1) I don't usually remember any dream 2) When I do remember a dream, it's never about football.

We beat the pants off Michigan, 35-13.

Offensive MVP: Tre La Soul

Defensive MVP: Lemonier

It was surprisingly vivid. :dunno:

I like the sound of it...hopefully your dream comes true. Especially the part where Lemonier doesn't declare for the draft after this year. The NC would be nice too
