aupops2 9
With what's going on between Foster, Matthews, and friends, the chemistry of this event could prove to be very interesting. uat, uga, and Auburn have 5, 7, and 4 commits attending, They are: uat: Reuben Foster. O J Howard, Cooper Bateman, Altee Tenpenny, Maurice Smith uga: Trey Matthews, Shaq Wiggins, Tramel Terry, Brice Ramsey, Reggie Wilkerson, Reggie Davis, Brandon Kublanow Auburn: Carl Lawson, Trey Johnson, Arshad Jackson, Tashawn Bower Also attending: Alvin Kamara, DeMarcus Walker, Derrick Green, Laquan Treadwell, Alvin Bailey, Isaiah Jones. Tyrone Crowder, and Jalen Ramsey. Even though we have only 4 commits, our potential commits could easily make us the dominant of the three. It will be interesting to see who works on who, but I like our chances with our recruiting leaders Lawson and Johnson.

Guest EagleDamnWar
AU= Liner is the one recruiting Foster and OJ Howard. Him not being there won't help with Foster. Lawson is recruiting M. Adams only. . Johnson barely talks. Bower and Johnson are brand new. Alabama= OJ Howard is the only close friend to Foster but even he said he doesn't recruit much UGA= Matthews and Wiggins are really good friends with Foster. IMO, Foster will be hanging out with them the whole event. Overall, the Opening will be huge for UGA's chances. Not so good for us and bama. They ask all 4 of AU commits (Liner, Lawson, Johnson, and Robinson) who is recruiting other players. Lawson immediately says "I got Montravius" and Liner says he has Reuben and OJ. Trey just stands there laughing throughout the whole thing.

You're not going tosee Johnson talking alot in interviews, esp when there are more outgoing guys being interviewed as well. However, IF he feels comfortable he talks and talks about Auburn. Sammy34 0
As interesting as this recruiting cycle has been, I'm beginning to tire of it. Sometimes I wish guys would just make a commitment and stick with it and drop all this drama bs. Granted, I have the nickname of old man for a reason. This has nothing to do with the thread, but every time I see the name aupops, I think about my old high school girlfriend's granddad that was called pops and followed Auburn recruiting pretty closely. Sorry for the off topic post, he was just a good guy and that username makes me remember him.

The only thing EDW is saying is that UGA has a greater presence at this event, and he's right. It would have helped to have Dee there because he's so outgoing and is a leader. I know Johnson recruits for us as well but I'm actually hoping they don't get together and all start recruiting Johnson as well.
aupops2 9
IMO, we have two strong commitments out there in Lawson and T Johnson. One is very, very vocal and a natural leader (Lawson). Foster, Wiggins, and Matthews are not as committed to their respective schools. Of course, that all could change in an environment where our coaches can't do anything about it. That's why I find this all so intriguing
NCTiger 0
This is all interesting, but our track record of flipping bama commits is not good. Chizik and our staff simply won't stoop to the level bama does to keep these commits on board and more importantly away from Auburn. Foster for example is going to have to fall in love with Auburn or our staff to stand up to the pressure and borderline intimidation that will come from team knee high. I think our performance on the field this year and perceived direction of the program will have much more impact on keeping current commits and securing other top targets than Chizik's past classes. DyeEraTiger 0
This is as much a corporate battle as anything else, imo. Nike knows how to battle. Unfortunately, the insignia on shoes and jerseys is becoming more and more of a factor in where a student-athelete chooses to go to school. Our best hope on one front is that UnderArmour continues to be a major player in the hearts and minds of 17 and 18 yr old kids.

Keep doing what you do!! Not meaning to attack. He does bring a lot of excellent info to this site that I read and appreciate very much. I'd be much less informed without him. I was just pointing out that you can't make broad assumptions about people that you don't even know, just because you watched a group interview they did. Information and data are not the same thing as personally knowing someone. Sometimes the info and data is wrong, and it is wise for one to realize that as a possibility. TigerBuc747 1
I think the main thing to keep in mind when following all of this recruiting is that these are 17 year old kids. They are just having fun out there. I know this becuase I am a 17 year old kid as well. Imagine if you were going into your senior year in high school and every major college football program in the nation was just begging for your signature, instead of the other way around like it is for most people. You would want to squeeze as much out of it as you can. These guys get to go on free trips all across the country with their friends just to hang out and get the rock star treatment. Then they have a bunch of fans from everywhere following their every move and friending them on Facebook and following them on Twitter and wooing them as well. Don't read into interviews at all. Most of these guys are just out there having fun and joking around and goofing off. Every once in a while they'll throw out some wild statement just to throw people off and see how far all of the media and fans on sites like these run with it. A couple of years ago Jadeveon Clowney posted on Facebook that he was going to Alabama just to see how big of a stir it would cause. Kouandjio did it too by saying New Mexico was in his final group. Point is, these guys are just out there having fun and enjoying life. Yeah, they might talk about college a little at these camps, but they will be hanging around with friends they haven't seen in a long time. They will just be joking around and hanging out most of the time. Y'all are reading way too much into it by trying to figure out who's recruiting who and who will be hanging out with who and all that stuff. Just imagine if one of the recruits were to read this thread, or any thread on any message board for that matter. They would be laughing hysterically at some of the wild assumptions made about them. Bottom line, they and their parents and sometimes the coaches and insiders are the only ones who know what is truly going on and everything else is just guessing. Recruiting analysts know only what the recruits themselves tell them and I can guarantee you 99% of what recruits say is either not the whole story or complete BS just intended to mess around with people. These are kids, they're going to have fun, end of story.
telling tiger 156
TigerBuc747, and a 17 year old shall lead them. More sense in your post than in 98% of the recruiting post ever on this board.
