seeing as we have 15 commitments right now I think your missing a few. If your gonna do a poll for this, you should probably add them all to the list.

Agreed.

Ok.  I understand the concept.  However, the whole idea of the poll is to gauge who you feel our "most important" commitment is.  Now I can edit the poll to add an "other" option if you want.  In which case please write in your vote via post reply.

That said I'm going by what seem to be the most popular sentiments so far (and to this point the poll is proving that to be correct).  Thanks for the input.

I don't think this is a bad poll at all. I think Dee Liner is important because he is in-state and we need to pull more of the in-state studs over the turds. I think Carl Lawson is important because he is such a vocal leader for this class (I know we have other leaders as well including Dee) and I really think he is going to be the next star in not only the SEC but the NFL, he has that much potential.

I'll bite...J Hutchison or Carlson.

Never underestimate the value of every extra-point. I get the idea of wanting to rank things. Importance is tough to consider as there are so many variables. I think Dee is a better recruiter, but we may find Carl produces more on the field in time...who knows now? Some of our less heralded recruits such as Cam Toney and Lemond Johnson are probably some of most confident recruits. It is obviously important to the class that the recruits are both fully committed and remain fully committed. So, because there are so many questions relating to importance, maybe if we could break the poll down into:

1 - Who will be our highest rated recruit?

2 - Who will be the best player once on the Plains?  (Gotta produce once you are here!)

3 - Who will have the most influence on his specific recruiting class?  (Somebody that gets them all here!)

4 - Who will be the biggest surprise?  (A la Sammy Coates from last year's class we all think)

5 - Who will be the most vital recruit?  (Based on position, need, etc)

6 - Who will be our most committed recruit? (Outspoken and proving of his allegiance)

:dunno: Maybe this will help define importance?

I voted other but if I had to pick it would be Dee  because if he somehow flipped it would be another things we would have to deal with Bammers about.

Yeah, this does not seem like a good idea for a poll.  Just my opinion.

Agree.

I will say that due to currently having a lot of Dlinemen that are upperclassmen, this year is a critical year for Dline recruiting, but I am not going to rank which recruits I consider more important than others. They are all a part of the same class which will be a part of the same team.

I don't think I can pick one.  It is going to be a great class.  These kids are talking up Auburn and it is great to see.  I'm glad they like AU and I couldn't be prouder of this coaching staff and the way they approach recruiting, discipline...  and oh yea...  coaching.    I think we have a staff that has a genuineness that is contagious.    They lay out a plan, shoot straight and it builds a bond and supports good team chemistry.  We are lucky that Coach Troop and Luper stayed on staff with the excellent coordinator hires.  They are arguably a couple of the best recruiters out there and will get their share of top recruits.    Now that I have thought about it…  I would have to say our top commitment is CGC and his leadership of these Auburn Tigers since he returned.

I would have to say building up the Defensive side of the ball is the most critical. The recruiting there is going very well and it would be hard to narrow to one between - DL Liner, DL Lawson, DL Bower, LB Johnson, LB Toney. So, as a core group these guys will already make this a very good class.

Adding Montravious Adams would make this a great class. Adding R Foster and T Matthews would make this one of the best D classes recruited to Auburn of all time.

In a pinch, picking one I'd say Dee Liner - great player, in state

I voted for Liner for being in state, being outspoken as a recruiter, and for coming on board and being so committed since very early in the process.  However, I think Adams as icing on our current D line class is the most important in terms of our remaining needs, his awesome potential, AND keeping him away from Clemson (don't want them to become a recruiting power any more than they already are, actually hoping RN comes to his senses with this package deal nonsense and decommits).

All commits to AUB are important!!

If I am a recruit reading this thread and I see that I am not as important then how do you think that makes me feel? What is the point??????

I think if you are a recruit and it hurts your feelings that you weren't named the most important commitment on an AE message board, you will probably not have tough enough skin to make it in SEC football. None of us are bad mouthing any recruits or talking negative about them, that would be a totally different case. But to suggest based on Carl Lawson's camp performance and vocal leadership that he could be the most important commitment or based on Dee Liner being a big time in-state recruit that is also a very vocal leader that he could be our most important commitment is not a bad thing to do. We are just bored and waiting for football to start and looking for things to discuss with other Auburn fans. At this point, all of these kids have proved nothing at the college level and we are just speculating based on highlight videos and camp performances. I am thrilled to have all of them and believe we have a few that aren't as highly rated but will end up having outstanding college careers.

I don't come on AE to argue at all, I always just bite my tongue and don't post if I see something I disagree with. We are all Auburn fans but it just bugs me sometimes when people are so hard on OPs and it discourages people like me from starting topics.

^^Agree^^ Not trying to discourage anyone from posting but sometimes postings are rather uninformative and thus my response.

On a better note watched the AUB vs Utah St game last night on ESPNU, the feeling is back for the season to start and I am with you on being bored and eager for the season to get underway.

I appreciate the info and insight you bring to the site gc. We are in that period where the season is so close, yet so far away it is almost painful.

I was at the Utah St. game last year, that game was definitely a bitter sweet one. It was one of the best last second come backs I have ever seen, but was also a reality check as to how our season would go. I was glad I was one of the faithful that stuck it out and didn't abandon my team and leave early, it ended up being a treat to watch. I have a feeling we will leave our season opener this year feeling better about the season ahead of us.  :we:
