Paul Finebaum Compliment?

PokerJokerAU

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I hate to admit it, but I have been listening to PF every so often now that I am stuck out here in OKC without any local sports radio about SEC teams. Today I caught the end of a call which was probably a bammer saying that Auburn would not be any good. Paul actually came out and said that he thinks AU is going to be improved and that he has been extremely complimentary about AU when asked. Went on to say that he thinks we are not getting any attention right now, but that he thinks we may surprise some people. PAAAWWWWL!!!

It's understandable that, in your deprived geographic position, you'd listen to him (and I admit that it's fun to listen to the idiots sometimes for comedic value, regardless). And, to be honest, Finebaum is more interested in riling up his listeners than he is about anything else. He lets them make the fantastical statements and predictions while making his own conservative (relatively) queries. He's not stupid, and he recognizes that Auburn is likely to be much better than bammers are willing to admit, so this way he stirs them up, gains support of Auburn fans who might be listening and hear him say that we'll be good, and continues laughing all the way to the bank.

To add to this statement, Pawl loves to make safe statements so that he is rarely "wrong". By saying we will surprise some people could mean 8-5 and or 14-0. Wouldnt be a surprise to us to improve our record at all, while if a dingleberry bambam finds out we went anything better than 8-5, he will be shocked and amazed...and Paaawwl will have been "right" either way.

Thanks, but none of those stations are anywhere near Oklahoma. I only listen to the radio in the car and since I have Sirius, I get my "silly bammer" fix from PF on Sirius 91. Only for now.

You DO have a computer....each of those stations is available online and the links are provided.  If you have a smartphone you should easily be able to listen to each station through TuneIn.

WDE !!!

Don't listen to the sports animal out of Norman. Its worse than anything you'll hear in Alabama. I was stationed in OKC for 5 years.

Paul is nothing more than a bartender handing out free drinks. And all he does is agree with all BS rumors and made up comments coming from people with a IQ higher than their credit score.

Paul does not add anything to the show other than stirring things up and changing subjects, the inmates run the show. The AU\UA rivalry would be more reasonable without that show.

Paul knows exactly what he is doing. The ESPN War Eagle\tRoll Tide 30 for 30 was one big commercial for the Fboob show. Paul is making mad money on all of this. The only time that I will listen is the Monday after an Updyke loss.

Well, the purpose of this thread is getting lost. Believe it or not, I am aware of the internet. I also used to use tune in every day on my way home from work when I worked in Pascagoula while living in Mobile. Unfortunately I got rid of my smart phone due to no coverage from C-Spire out here. Figured it was dumb to jump into another contract way out here, so I am using a "go phone" until we get back to the south east to get another smartphone plan.

The thing I was trying to get across in this thread is that this time last year I am almost sure that PAAAAWWL was just like everyone else in picking us 5th in the west and likely to end up 5-7. To me, for him to say that AU should be optimistic about the season and is a potential sleeper should be a good sign that we may be in for something special.

Now, if I could only figure out where this pesky "post" button is I could send this dad-fangled reply....whoop! there it is.....

Done this before  :tease:

I hate to admit it, but I listened today also and actually caught him saying something that wasn't hateful about Auburn. It is a rare occurence, I know. I don't listen every day and have listened to him a lot less since I found this forum! I live in GA and am just tired of hearing everything DAWG!!! PF did say that we would be better than people expected and even argued with some BAMMER numnut who said we would be losing to Clemson, MSU, Arky, Vanderbilt in addition to his alma mater, UA (oh wait, most their fans NEVER EVEN GO THERE!!!!), LSU, GA and SC. Of course, I agree PF was hedging his bets, not trying to be nice. He is a total, complete jerk and brings out the worst in the Updyke U fans, laughing all the way to the bank.

My Paul Finebaum compliment would be "Gee Paul, you don't actually have a Saban skidmark on your forehead".

Finebaum used to have a sidekick named Neal Vickers when he was on WERC. I loved that guy, because he could infuriate the bammer listeners like crazy. Unfortunately he didnt tag along to jox, so I pretty much turned the show off

There's not an excuse, I've tried to quit, really I have. I know that it leads to a decrepit life. My friends in the stands have tried to stage an intervention and it almost worked. I just have to sneak, every now and then, and get a taste of why I hate Bama so bad...it's a sickness, really it is... :banghead: :banghead:

If you can turn it off for a few months, you will pretty much forget it exists.  At least that is what happened to me. I used to listen everyday. However, when finebaum started kissing saban's butt on a regular basis, I turned it off and havent looked back since. Of course, this also coincided with finebaum leaving WERC for Jox and leaving Neal Vickers behind.

His agenda see-saws. His defending Auburn just goes to show that the peers he respects are saying good things about Auburn and he is using whatever opinions he has poached from them to keep from missing the boat.

Good Season ahead with or without him  :wareagle:

Can't listen more than a few minutes at a time.  I am not wild about the other afternoon show on 97.3, in Birmingham but it is better than Finebarf.
