Local sports talk hosts says Auburn is a dirty team that is coached that way

Walt Deptula, a radio talk show host here in SC was reviewing each of the teams in the SEC and said Auburn "plays over the line" (intimidation, late hits).  He just flat out said that Auburn is a dirty team and is coached that way.

Where is this crap coming from?  Is it all because of Fairly's late hit in the Georgia game (which I still do not think was intentional)?

Does anyone have any objective data on personal foul penalties that suggest Auburn is worse than average in this respect?

Could it possibly be the fact that we own that state (save CU last year) for as long as we , or they can remember ?

On the front page of this site is a list of the games with the most personal fouls and yes, AU/uga is the leader. FSU has 3 games in the leaders list and UAB, yeah UAB has 2. I do not know if there is a more complete stats list on the site, but there could be. That was 2010, in a very heated game and neither team really were shining examples of penalty free play that day.

Might want to check the date...November 17th, 2010

Find more proof because one game doesn't prove anything. It was an ugly game for PF calls. The refs went PF crazy and not all of the 12 that were called should have been PF's. Again one game doesn't make a dirty program if it did UGA , Bama, and LSU would be on top.

I'm with Red on this one, Homer, you heard a homer. Talking heads with too much air time to fill. Just not that big a deal. Let him get in their heads and make em worry about something other than a football game. :dunno:

stripe, I didn't take it seriously or read it seriously, someone might be able to find more accurate data on the SEC/NCAA sites. I'm busy not giving a rats rump.

Well that's absolutely fantastic Walt, But I don't give 2 steamy sh**s.  :D

If Nick Fairley was "Dirty" then give me Dirtier or Dirtiest because I LOVED the way he played!

Just go spend your time doing something else if it's too rough for your pansy a**. It's really that simple.

the thing about fairley is, he never stopped. his purpose was to attack the ball carrier. yea some were a split second late(only a few). he started getting press from the haters so the refs were eager to call a foul. just look at the first quarter of the 2010 bama game. the call was bad, kept a drive alive, and they evently scored a td.

even the so called late hit on cry baby murray was legal, good gosh this topic has gotten me ill. i need a beer :)

Maybe it's all the Vicodin I'm taking or, I just got over it, but at the time this all went down, the UGA and Bama games I was mad as hell. I'm chill about it now.

Actually, this show is based in Clemson.  He mentioned this is one of the things that Clemson has to "prepare for mentally".

Good, I hope they are afraid of being hit.  Because they will be hit.   Why did he go back to 2010?  Why not use 2011 games since that was the last season played.  He wanted it slanted toward Auburn and he knew that Fairley had his share of penalties.   That's why.

Dear Clemson, I know you won last year (which took over 50 years to accomplish), this is why you wouldn't survive an SEC schedule.  If you can't hang with the big dogs, keep your puppyazz on the porch.

What year is he talking about?  'Cause we didn't play too mean and dirty last year.

In fact, I'm hoping and praying that the mean streak returns to the Tiger this year. I'm ready to man-handle folks again. :aufb:

to me dirty is like florida plays, was it spikes? pokeing eyes out stomping player while they are down(georgia did it to fairly). that is dirty, players that play till the whistle is blown is who i want on my team. sorry football is a brutal sport

i say dont stop till the screaming starts. if we want to talk about PF then fine. thats the only way anyone could handle Fairley. Ask anyone in the SEC. but push come to shove, this is big boy football. and for that matter, every UGA game i have every watched (great friend of mine is a huge fan but he does cheer on Auburn as well) they have at least 4-5 called on them a game, when they actually have enough players not suspended to fill a team. i had to get that last part in there, lol

I have a good friend that is a UGA fan, and after the AU/UGA we were out at a bar with an bama fan and the bama fan was saying that Fairley was playing dirty and before I could say anything the UGA fan said "I wish we had 11 Fairley's on our team" the bama fan did not talk about football the rest of the night.

This kind of crap was exported to that State with Dabo who is all too eager to promote the bammer negative spin from UATea. He feeds this stuff to radio mouth pieces and they run with it. I cant wait for this game.

There is a difference in being "dirty" and being aggressive with an attitude.

"Attitude reflects leadership, 'Captain'... "
