Takeo Spikes

When their respective times are done in the NFL, Karlos Dansby, Carlos Rogers, Ben Grubbs, Ronnie Brown, Darvin Adams etc... are a few others I wouldn't mind having.

Kodi Burns...he can teach any player what self interest is actually worth over team worth. Man gave up on his "personal dreams" at the time and developed new dreams. Winning a title as the anAuburn man. No one has been more of an Auburn man in the past decade or more than KB! Book it.

Actually...if you made it in the League for any real length of time, then I would think that makes up for being a grad assistant and skips you right to being a position coach; not as if you haven't been doing it at the highest level already. Also, I would think it would need to be someone who graduated, say, within the last 5 years; you just don't see too many 40 year old GAs.

With that in mind, here are a few that I thought of:

Kodi Burns

Neil Caudle

Josh Bynes

Josh Thompson (though he's pushing my self-imposed 5 year limit I think)

Ryan Pugh

Neiko Thorpe (hate all you want, but he laid his heart and soul on the line for four years at Auburn)

That's about all I've got right now...

Burns, Caudle, Bynes, and Adams would all be great additions.

To think players on the level of Takeo, Ronnie Brown, and Dansby would come to AU as a GA is pretty far fetched to me. I just don't see that happening and I'd think that would be really unusual. These guys are star players in the NFL. Now Caudle, Kodi, Pugh, etc would be a different story. Love to have any of them though.

I had forgotten about Obamanu...he is a very bright guy and a real Auburn man....and had NFL experience too.  Lots of good choices out there.

Isnt Pugh working with the OL now or maybe it was last year?

Unfortunately, I think this team needs some GA's that help teach character more than football skills. Burns, Caudle, Trotter, Cox, etc...would be good choices for that in my opinion. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

As a proud Alum, I'm just sick of the off-the-field issues we have had over the past couple of years and I want it to stop.

Is he? I hadn't heard that, but if so that's awesome!

It wasn't last year.  He was working with the OL at Spain Park last year with his dad

Good point.  I recall that when Ben O was on the team he dropped a game winning pass against Ole Miss...and then came out and faced the press afterward.  Took real courage for him to do that.  Like Kodi, he put the team first and took personal responsibility.

Ok it had to be this spring then, I remember a couple videos of him helping grimes out during one of the spring practices and wasnt sure if it was this or last year. I'll see if I can find the video.

At 2:40 The OL, Grimes, and Pugh

When QB's are taking snaps at 2:40 with the centers, Pugh is walking around in a orange jacket

That's really cool, though I wonder how much that might have just been him visiting his old team and coaches. I'd love to see him get into coaching, though, because he always struck me as an intelligent player. That doesn't always translate into being able to teach it, but I would think he would make a good line coach...maybe hook him up with a job at a smaller school coaching the O-line if not giving him a GA position at AU?

Well in alot of videos he has a call sheet with him and is always pulling Dismukes over to the side and talking to him so, who knows?

Takeo is entering his 15th season this year. Even though he is signed thru the '13 season, there is a distinct possibility that he might retire at the end of this year. Wouldn't it be something if he then decided he would like to come to Auburn and teach our linebackers everything he has learned ? I also saw how excited he was that Reuben committed to Auburn so you just never know.
