The "Shot Across The Bows"

Alot has been said about the speech Foster gave yesterday in his presser. Many have said it was an orchestrated move to somewhat "get revenge" for the Yeldon flip. And there will be some who will say,

"Oh here we go again with you Auburn conspiracy theorists trying to say Yeldon's flip was planned."

Do I think Foster's speech was orchestrated?

Yes I do.

But do I think it was for revenge?

No, I do not.

The one thing that I have gathered from watching Coach Chizik implement his plan over the last few years, is that he has brought and instilled an attitude similar to the one Dye brought when he was hired. An attitude of championship thinking and not one of mediocrity and winning just 8 or 9 games a year and being happy with it as long as we beat bammer. I really believe that God is blessing Auburn through Chizik as he works his plan while doing it honestly, and with great integrity. We are truly blessed as a fanbase by Chizik leading this team whether many believe it or not.

Many have also said that they wished that Foster would have waited until signing day to flip. As much as that would make us true bammer haters laugh, it wouldn't have been the respectable and honorable thing to do. Even if it is bama. The Yeldon thing may very well have been orchestrated to send a chest thumping message from turdistan saying,

"Know your role Auburn, we get who we want."

Reading articles about how saban has operated at his other jobs, leads me to believe that he does operate this way sometimes. But that is neither here nor there.

I believe that this was a message sent by our staff. But not one of the chest thumping nature. There is a verse in the bible about doing good to your enemies, because it heaps burning coals upon their heads. The message sent to bama wasn't one of revenge, it was one of honor. I believe the message was,

"Even though you meant evil by getting Yeldon to flip when we couldn't do anything about it because of the dead period, this message is to let you know that we at Auburn do not operate in such deceitful ways."

"We do it the right way and still get great players."

Oh and the other message it sends is,

"And you better get this straight and buckle the chin straps up tight, because WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY."

War D*** Chizik.

Excellent post.  It's just in more words than I had used on the same thought myself.  We did the same thing, but we did it the right way, and we let them know we're not going to sit back and take it.  WDE!

I don't know who choreograhed the speech but whoever did it was for a message. We are here and we are not going anywhere.

Great post Weegs. I think it is a great thing for many reasons that RF flipped now. I think he has known for awhile where he wants to go and now he can enjoy himself without hiding it any longer. Hiding a secret that big for at least 4 more months including during the football season would suck. He can now go to Auburn games and cheer on his future team mates without any worries. He can also openly recruit more people to join him. There is no question where his loyalties lie and this kid is a natural leader. To have him recruiting openly for us from now until NSD is huge. He is also living in Auburn, where he will not face day to day pressure like some of our other recruits that flipped in the past did. From what I have gathered, his family supports his decisions and want what is best for him. And finally, the kid is an absolute beast, good luck intimidating him.

Thanks guys, I love this staff. We are truly blessed to have them. War Eagle!

Excellent write Weegs.

Here is the thing about the speech. The speach doesn't change very much when someone flips, a word here are word there. but every coach has the young man basically say the same thing. It's respectful, to the point, hits all the right areas and leaves no doubt of the message. It leaves no room for questions.

As for a message to the Bammers, CGC has been sending this message since he arrived. I doubt it will ever change as long as he's here.

 and Bammer are about to get throat punched!!!!  :wareagle::zapbama:

I agree totally Weegs!  Best post u ever made IMO.  I too believe that God is blessing us through all of the Christian leaders of our beloved university. I am more proud of being an alumni now than ever before because Auburntruly does things the right way from top to bottom.  Can't ask for much more than that. War Eagle and God bless.

Nice post but I can't see it as anything but a friendly and competitive jab. And I liked it. They will win some and we will win some. I will take RF over TJ. Time will tell.

I'm more old school.  Didn't need the script to deliver the message.  Message was already delivered.  Nothing worthwhile accomplished with the speech.  Leave it alone, I'd say.

My football philosophy is, hit him in the mouth and knock him down.  Then pick him up and say, "Nice play."

Unfortunately College Football is more than what is on the field and "hit him in the mouth and knock him down".  A message was delivered to Saban and company that we will not back down from them in persuing the recruits that we think will make our program better.  Where they waited to have TJY stab us in the back at the last minute we brought RF on in plain view.  We were forthright they were sneaky....

I've been around for a while, and basically "worship" at the alter of Pat Dye. Dye was a man's man who was as old school and hard core as it gets. So, I see the point of saying no need to deliver a message.

However, I think times have changed now to an extent. We are dealing with a regime in turdtown that is a corporate factory that likes to play dirty. IMO, the gloves came off after the Cam slander, the "kidnapping", the flip right before the dead period, etc. Therefore, I like messages being sent and this one has rung out loud and clear. We are Auburn. We have been better than you for the past 3 decades, we comin', and we want you to know it.

100% but let him know "I'll be right back!"

I don't really think the coaches had anything to do with his statement, any more than they had to do with the tattoo. While I think it was great, it's a bit beneath the coaches to have gone to the trouble, or to have "used" Foster in this way. If anything I bet they're not thrilled he did it. This staff will make their statements on the field. I think RF has just been drinking the cool-aid lately and decided to take a jab at Bama all by himself. Might have even been encouraged by some current players. The way he's been making a mockery of this process with his statements lately, he just seems like the type that would come up with this himself.

that's my 2c and you got what you paid for
