around4ever 4,139
Both are on schedule to be qualified. Check their individual threads in recruiting for more discussion.
aupelham 0
If Jaquay & Darrion don't make it in until January, will it impact our numbers for the 2013 signing class? Just curious because this isn't technically a grey shirt situation since they've already signed a NLI. TIA & War Eagle!

Mikey 16,781
They still count against the '12 class. Things changed recently and the NCAA and SEC now count signees, not players that actually enroll in school. That's for annual signing limits only. Signees are counted whether they qualify or not. Since AU undersigned by four, we could actually sign 4 early enrolees in January and another 25 regular guys in February. Corey Grant may have already used one of those early slots, not sure of his status. Lembke, Fisher and Means, as long-time students, don't count against an annual limit. The overall 85 limit is a whole 'nuther discussion! Hope I haven't confused you, but it's not simple.

Since Corey Grant has been here 2 years he falls in the same boat as the other walk ons you mentioned that got a scholly in that he does not count against any IC (initial counter) list for a year....Also, we undersigned by 3 last season not 4 due to transfers who come in on scholly now counting against a team's 25 limit. Prosh was out 22nd initial counting player last season.

Mikey 16,781
Are we giving up on them qualifying today? I don't think "giving up" is a good term, but today is the deadline for students to enroll for fall semester. Even if they should get somehow waived in later, they would be way behind in their classes. College is hard enough, I would have hated to start school being already a week or two behind. AUGoo 2,699
Wow! That's three guys out of this class we failed to get into the door. Makes this past recruiting class a little weaker. Looking for them next year to come on strong!

aucanucktiger 1,876
So was yesterday (Wed, 1st day of class?) the last chance for the NCAA clearinghouse to clear these guys for this year and did none of them get cleared?

Iron_chin_chiz 0
2012 class has gotten a lot weaker with losing JaQuay and Jovon as well as Pike. Those were some of our most prized recuits in the entire class. Pretty disappointing, we need to show this year that we can put together some offense and get some talent to come here offensively to make up for 2012 class. Mikey 16,781
What year does Coleman count against?? No year, so far. He's on medical scholarship. He's a special situation and I suppose when or if he comes off medical status we'll find out how they(the NCAA) are going to handle it.

Shon is on a football scholly and started class in the fall of 2011 class so he counted back to the 2011 class. When did they do that? Shon has been on medical scholarship (just like an injured player) since he started school here, by special NCAA rule. It was sort of a big deal at the time, since he went straight from HS to medical without getting injured in college. It took a special ruling from the NCAA. I tend to watch such things and I've seen no notice that he has been moved from medical status to regular status. When was his status changed?
