Secondary depth chart

Anyone want to take a guess at what the secondary depth chart will look like?

Also is Swain to LB still happening?

Assuming Bell is 100% you figure he is a starting CB, Davis has a lot of experience now as the other starter?

What about Safety?

Whitehead and Florence should be in there. Last I heard, T Bell was recovering well-ahead of schedule; however, for a DB to come back from that kind of injury is still no sure thing. That's all I got.

im not expecting Bell to be back this season.  His injury was to nasty to make such a speedy recovery.  just my opinon.

I think he will be but in a somewhat limited role, particularly at the beginning of the season. He was participating to some extent in Spring practice.

Honestly, I think Davis and Whitehead start at corner, with T-Bell at nickel. I definitely think we will have much better depth in the secondary this year, with a lot of guys able to rotate in and out. I think Florence, McNeal, and R. Smith are the three top spots at safety.

Swain has indeed been playing OLB, from what I've heard.

Apparently, Whitehead is pushing to start at safety opposite Florence. Therezie is playing corner, from what I understand...which seems a bit strange to me, as I would have thought Therezie was more a safety and Whitehead more a corner, but :dunno:.

I agree Therezie's aggressive style always screamed safety, but his hips are what makes him such a force at corner. I think Whitehead is just as aggressive as Therezie, but plays a little more controlled with the big hit.

Either way, the secondary will be stacked. Ryan Smith, Demetruce McNeal, Erique Florence, Whitehead, Jonathan Rose, Jonathon Mincy, Ryan Smith, Ikeem Means, Trent Fisher all have proven game experience. Add the new additions in this incoming class and I think the coaching + talent = best in SEC...Hell...the country.

Yep, that'll do it.

I have no idea how the depth chart will shape up but based on what Ive read it seems that Whitehead is going to play a lot. Ryan Smith, Florence, McNeal and Whitehead battling for PT at the safety positions. Davis inked in at one corner with a battle between Therezie and Mincy on the other side. I think the most intersting thing to watch is how they'll use different personnel packages in various situations. Even though I haven't mentioned T'Bell, Im definitely not counting him out just not up to speed on how his recovery is coming along. If his knee is sound his experience would be a valuable asset and I imagine he'd be a starter himself. I too believe our secondary play could very easily be a bit of a pleasant surprise for the casual fan who isn't aware of the talent Auburn has assembled in those positions

I'm with this 100%. I don't have a clue how Bell is doing, though it seems like I've heard he might well be able to get back on the field, which would be awesome, because you're absolutely right: his experience would be invaluable if he can play.
