lca4081345162963 0
Thursday was an excellent day for Auburn football fans considering the commitment of Reuben Foster. The Foster commitment made big news not only because of his 5 star status but because of his flipping from Alabama to Auburn, just 8 months after one of the more infamous recruiting flips in rivalry history going against the Tigers. Though Auburn fans smile big after anything negative occurs to the Crimson Turds, we can't forget the school 178 miles up I-85 in the hills of Georgia. The flip that affected the 2013 Alabama class also sent shockwaves through the coaching staff in Athens. I ask the question, which team got hurt more by this flip - Alabama or Georgia? Sure, Foster is the highest rated prospect that Nick Saban has a chance to get this year but in all likelihood, Alabama will snag another 5 star at some point down the road, maybe 2. The Tide will end up with another top 5 class, though certainly the Foster flip will sting Tide faithful for some time to come. But take a look at poor ole Jawja. A week ago, things looked rosy for Mark Richt concerning this 2013 class. Alabama no longer looked like a viable option for the talented linebacker as the race for Foster's allegiance seemed to be boiling down to Auburn and Georgia. Richt had an advantage in both Tray Mathews and Shaq Wiggins - good friends with Foster who were both commitments. Foster had visited Athens several times in the past few months, each time coming away with complimentary words. The July 13th Dawg Night event looked to be a star-studded event, with Auburn commit Trey Johnson also stopping by. All Richt and his staff needed to do was keep up the good work, encourage Mathews and Wiggins to keep recruiting, and hope that Foster was genuine about his apparent feelings for the place. Then, it was announced through Twitter and message board chatter that Foster was no longer attending Dawg Night. Many on this site hypothesized that Foster was giving lip service to the media and planning on going to Athens anyway in the same way that he ended up attending Big Cat Weekend. But as the days dragged on last week, it became increasingly clear that Foster was definitely not going to make the trip. Even so, the Georgia staff could feel confident that they were on the right track with the 5 star. Mathews had made a recent comment about there being an announcement for both he and Foster, probably sometime in August, that would upset some people. Everyone interpreted that comment in a different way, but it was reasonable to assume that with all the recent visits and the constant recruiting of the current commits, including at the Opening, Foster was leaning Georgia's way. Then of course, came the announcement of Foster's press conference and speculation abounded. It soon became apparent as the hours passed by on Thursday morning that only the Auburn beat writers had been originally notified and had broken the story. That wasn't a good sign. Foster wasn't coming to Dawg Night - okay that's fine, he's still committed to Alabama, and Mathews and Wiggins are still in his ear. But now this announcement? They must have been thinking "Dear God, what if he really does commit to Auburn?" When Foster made his flip, the confidence and good feelings surrounding the upcoming Dawg Night must have been instantly sapped. Foster would have been the true gem of the 2013 class for Richt and co., just as he was for Alabama and is currently for Auburn. Without a chance at their top target, Georgia coaches now had to worry about their own current commitments - the two defensive backs who had seemed like such a potent weapon against both Bama and Auburn for Foster's signature now could be potential landmines considering their own interest in Auburn and the reverse of those relationships. It's no wonder that the Georgia coaches began circling the wagons on Friday and convinced Wiggins and Mathews to stay in Athens and not head to the Plains for the camp on Saturday. I have to say, considering the fact that all of what I just typed above is likely true in some capacity, I am enjoying Georgia's handwringing more than Alabama's. To me, its quite obvious that the Foster flip was coordinated and timed to do the most damage to a rival program, though not necessarily the one you think. The timing was designed to hurt Georgia, only the style of the flip was intended for Alabama. Foster's commitment was nothing less than urine in Mark Richt's cheerios for the Dawgs' event, and I couldn't be happier. JMO Ryan

AtlantaAU 0
A few years ago it seemed the whining was less out of UGA (could be selective memory). Post-Cam it's been crazy AND quite funny. Just think that most of the crybaby stuff is while they've had the upper hand on the field. I can't wait until Auburn rips off a couple/few years of wins. I have co-worker friends here in Atlanta who have been ridiculous the last two years. I'm not a smacktalker, so I just sit back and laugh inside. Hopsing 619
Seems to me there a some gloating last year from UGAY fans from a recruit named Ray Drew! Bottom line, this happens every year to someone, but man sure feels good to be on good side this time!
lca4081345162963 0
Man, if I could just here ole Jim one more time playing Jawja. Ain't that the truth! Jim had some great calls against Alabama but man, he was excellent when we played Jawja. I like hearing the calls from the 2000 UGA game the most, though 1999 is pretty sweet as well. Beating UGA is just pure SEC satisfaction. It has as much to do with the crisp November air as it does with the victory itself. Unfortunately, we've been on the losing end of that coin flip too frequently in the past few years. But you're right, there's nothing like a breezy November evening with an Auburn win over the puppies and hearing Jim call the game. Ryan
Stripe 5
I miss Jim so much that I can't listen to a broadcast of a game anymore unless I can't get it on TV. It's just not the same anymore. as a Teen I use to get on my mower throw on the headset and listen to the game on Saturdays. I never watched any TV games. It wasn't until 92 season that I watched any Auburn game on TV. As for UGA, the fan base as a whole are a bunch of whiners. That’s all they do is whine and cry. I can't wait to stomp them into a black puddle. Bammers are the bigger troll job, their swollen heads over their fake claimed championships make them arrogant, and it's oh so much fun to knock them off their high horse. All you have to do is say something intelligent and they start scratching their head and pipe up some dumb ass comment in which is easily flipped back to them until they get frustrated and walk away.
