WHY will this team be "special" this year ? OK, I'll tell you why.

What will define special to me this year ?

10 wins, a solid defense, a solid offensive line, a solid rushing offense, a leader at QB.

WHY will we do that ?

*The talent is in place up and down the depth chart at every position.

*Van Gorder, who will bring back the Auburn defenses that were feared.

*The defensive line depth is starter quality 2 and 3 deep (especially at DE) and will wear out offensive lines in the 2nd half.

*The offensive line is filled with studs and with Robinson and Westerman added will be meaner and nastier this year.

*Grimes now has the players in place for the long haul and he will coach them up to be a top flight unit.

*The skill positions on offense are loaded 3 and 4 deep.

*Lefty, will greatly improve the QB play, bring back the Auburn smash mouth running game but also add a very solid passing attack.

*Jay Prosch, not much more to be said than those two words. He will have a major positive effect on every one of the other 10 offensive positions. He is worth 2 wins by himself.

*Kiehl Frazier, who will become a true team leader, be THE leader on offense and have a very solid year.

*Fear and Revenge. These players were tested by fire and have the experience of being out manned in strength, experience and preparation. The players from last year now fear the awful feeling that gave them and will never want that experience to happen to them again. It's one thing to have that fear, but the important thing is that these players have the talent and character to do something about it.

That fear is a huge underlying motivator for this team and will drive them in their training. Once they have pushed themselves to the limits with the training, to get bigger, stronger, faster, better prepared, they will be ready to seek revenge and revenge they will get. Fear and revenge, great motivators, never underestimate it. This team will be a different team this year.

* So, there you have it. There is every reason to believe this team will be special this year and VERY special next year. Its special just to watch a team go thru the progression of recruiting, training, gaining experience, becoming a special team, to becoming a great team. That is all part of the fun, to go thru that process with them and get excited to see the improvements, no matter what phase of that process the team is in. I love to analyze all those phases, however some people cant seem to separate the analyzing part from the fan part.

* So my friends, that brings me to my last reason this team will be special to me and that is because it is fun. Make your own realistic assessment of your team then be a fan. Its fun to be excited about your team no matter what phase of development it may be in. I mean, if you aren't going to have fun then why in the heck would you even want to be a fan ?

This is OUR TEAM, this is MY TEAM, I am EXCITED and that my friends IS FUN.

Pass the offering plate, my brother. That is sermon worthy.

I'm excited by the potential of these kids, talent across the board. Leaders are taking the reins and leading. They put a hand in the fire last year and got burned. I don't believe it is a feeling they are willing to relive. WDE!!!

Solid post.

I agree with many of your points but I have some concerns that may make this season bumpy...

I think the D will be much better but switching styles takes a learning curve...(I think this style will be easier to learn than the read/react style)

I am a little worried about our QBs...I think KF may take it over but breaking in a new QB within a new offense is always tough and has steep learning curves....I hope Lefty can keep our offense in many of the games...I think we will be much better than last year overall but I have to see how well we do in the first couple of games.  I really think that next year we will be really good with the amount of Juniors and seniors.  From what I have been reading it does seem that the team is getting it in the weight room and voluntary workouts.  Team Chemistry is extremely important and I think this years team has that spark similar to the 2004 team...so overall I think we are always special and hopefully a special season will come about.  I think that all of the negative press on how bad we will be can be a very good motivator for these kids.  I always think that we can win it all every year and hope in every game that we do.  I am someone who in the back of my mind is more realistic though.  I just like to see us at least compete and not give up.

War Eagle and sorry for the long post but as you can see it is my first on this board!

I got a chuckle out of your first post because you said "I am a little worried about our QBs"..you probably didn't know you were commenting about KF the post directily after his dad (AUQBDAD).  Welcome to the site and  :wedance:

Thanks for the welcome...as for KF.  I am not trying to take anything away from him.  I just know it is hard to learn a new system, exert your leadership qualities, win over the team and win the starting job all within a few months.  Plus being somewhat new to being the starter you have to ensure that you are reading the D.  I think under Gus you ran the play as called (I could be wrong but it is what it seemed).  I think that the new offense may be very different.  Hard to tell since we really haven't seen it in action yet.  So to Mr. AUQBDAD, I hope your son wins the starting job (as I think he is the better option) and has a great season this year and for the rest of his time on the plains!

Sorry... I am still not buying it. There is no way AUQBdad is really Mr. Frazier. Rule number 1 when you have a famous relative is to avoid the blogs and forums. No offense, but it is probably just some guy that wanted to improve his "credibility."

Watch this:

I am Jay Prosch's cousin. He told me that T-bell is out for the season... It sounds a lot more legitimate if I pretend to be a close relative.

If that was really Kiehl's dad, he wouldn't be able to give us any information. Remember, Chizik likes to keep secrets. Don't you think he would be a little upset if he learned Kiehl was telling his dad everything and that the information he was getting was being posted on a forum?

I could keep going, but it wouldn't make much sense for Mr. Frazier to really be posting on this forum.

(P.S. If you really are Kiehl's dad, my sincere apologies. I just really doubt that you are really him due to the information you are passing along.)

Uh, yes, it is really Kiehl's Dad, although his last name is Beach, not Frazier. Technically, he is Kiehl's stepdad, but Mr. Beach raised him, and Kiehl calls him "Dad". He and Scott (AUSportTalk, the guy who started this website) are friends, and he's posted pictures of events such as a fishing trip taken with Christian Westerman's father (think both of their kids were with him, but I don't remember for sure), and just with Kiehl as well. Also, he watches a lot of this stuff first hand.

He can't say everything that he knows, of course, but he does pass things along. If you can't believe me when I say it's him, that Scott wouldn't have allowed him to use that screen name if it wasn't, then I don't know what else to tell you.

P.S. We also have several other family members of players who are members on this board. Christian Westerman's father is one of them. I won't reveal the others, because many of them do not want to be revealed (for obvious reasons), and I don't remember which, if any, have purposely made their presence known. Oh, and by the way, Jake Holland's father is a member on scout's Auburn page. He had a quote about the growing pains that we'd be going through last year (before the season started), but that after that, people had better watch out...or something to that effect (someone else can look up the quote if they want, because it made it over here, too, I just don't feel like it).

This is really disturbing to me.  I understand the poster is new, and that accounts for the naivete' for the post, but I also think it is incumbent on everyone to use some respect when addressing a subject like this.  AUQBDAD goes far out of his way to temper his posts to ensure that too much information is not given.  Sure, I find myself wanting more, but I understand he can give up only so much, and I am grateful for the tidbits we get.  I actually get a little uncomfortable with some of the questions we ask him, feeling they are a might invasive, but he answers with grace and diplomacy.  From one, Robin, I apologize for this.

Friction, I'm going to try to be nice.  You are mistaken. I know, unequivocally, it is Mr. Beach.  That is all I can say within that parameter
