aubcali 456
Thinking about buying new construction. I was able to negotiate a pretty good deal, but I'm still debating whether to pull the trigger or buy resale. I've been told resales are a much better deal right now in Atlanta. Any experts out there who have any advice on whether it is a good/bad idea to buy new construction at the moment?

The SandMntTiger 9
Search Trulia.com. I've seen some super nice houses in the ATL (talking granite, tile, hardwood, with stainless steel appliances) sell for around $20-30 a square.

Would think old construction to be better priced there, even renovated.

Other resales that are in a good price range need renovations, but by the time I put money into the house -- how much will it cost me? That's the part of buying new that appeals to me. Thanks for the feedback.

Builder 86
In these markets, it has been cheaper to buy resales. Look close and even new construction has taken a hit. Its hard to build for what some homes, some only a few years old, have sold for. It is still a buyers market in most areas. negotiate and dont listen to BS...buyers and cash are kings

Those are some nice houses for a dirt cheap price. Hell I almost started to call and see how much it would cost to have one moved up here (j/k kinda). It was listed at $120k. We bid $135k and were still out bid. Ppl say it's a buyer's market but that is quickly changing at least in the South Suburbs of Atl. The inventory is quickly changing. I can't tell you how many houses we've seen, decide to make an offer the same evening, only to find out it goes under contract the same morning our offer is submitted. Thankfully we finally got one and should go to close in the middle of August. Good luck with your search.
