Given the size of these two and the number of backs we currently have - any chance one of them takes over for JP once he departs?

Very slim. Expect Auburn to add a preferred walk on FB in this class.

No way, JMO.  You don't convert and already good potential tailback into a fullback.  Both Wilkins and Robinson have ideal tailback size and agility for the next level.  I believe we invite a few walk-ons or take a fullback late in the recruiting process if we have room.

I didnt think so, but given the number of backs and how big these guys will be - just didnt know if we would make a move to put more of them on the field at the same time.

It is probably not the plan of the coaching staff, but both of them could grow into that roll as they add muscle, they may lose some top end speed.  It happens, but I am sure it is not their plan.  I believe that Carl Stewart and Fred Beasley are two examples of great high school backs who became fullbacks by the time they were 22.  So while some call it ludicrous to happen, I think you are entirely right to think it may happen.

At 6' 1" they will have the frame to easily grow into a 225-235 RB. Look at the size of Kiehl @ QB right now for instance. I also remember a pretty good RB @AU that was 6'1" 231. So no, you don't go after these premier RBs to give them a 4 year scholly just to turn them in to a FB. You look for other skill sets for the FB position.

So you are agreeing with me.  I said that it is not the coaches plan, but to say that there is no chance at all is not realistic.  I mean there is always a chance.  Second we have not seen either one of these guys in an Auburn uniform, so to say we know what their skill sets are by watching high school highlight tapes is strange in my opinion.  I guess this is something we will revisit in a couple years.  Anything is possible, maybe not probable, but possible.

I try to keep up a little with recruiting but when all I see is a post with three sets of initials I might as well give up.  :(

Robinson and Wilkins, our two running back recruits from 2012 class and next years class.

Thanks, my opinion is that a true running back would not want to be a blocking fullback

Why did Auburn stop having JV games? I remember going to Jordan-Hare to watch some JV's play when I was a child.

I remember it also but, that was when freshmen were not eligible to play.

They did it when I was in school too (I graduated in 2001).  I remember AU playing Georgia Military or something on like a Wed night when I was in school.  There prob weren't 500 folks there.  I remember this b/c Kendall Simmons was in street clothes on the sideline and a buddy of mine were trying to guess how long it would take Simmons to eat a baby seal.

You realize that your not quite right?  But, you do make me laugh.

my personal plan would be to find a fantastic middle linebacker (6'-0"ish and can grow into 240 to 250 lbs) who does not have adequate lateral quicks to play D at the D-1 BCS school level.  an absolute straight line bull ... and put him at FB.  JP was a great LB if I understand (have no idea what his lateral movement is/was - apparently not D-1 BCS quality) and he could be one of the best FB that Auburn has had in a long time, if not one of the best ever.
