Nick Saban making a pitch to support a nine-game SEC schedule. He says players should face every SEC team in four years.

I think that is something that every player would love to do.

As fan I'd love to do it too.

It's coming.  And weeman will be the first to complain about having to play five conference games away while only getting four home games every other year.

I agree with playing every SEC team over a four year cycle.  I don't understand what the conference thought they were doing by not working out the schedule before expanding.  If you are going to add teams... wouldn't you logically think you would need to play more conference games?

I think that would work ... if the SEC Championship game was eliminated.

That's not going to happen

Last years SECCG did not settle anything, did it?  Alabama won it by default without even playing in it since they beat LSU in the BCSCG.  The SECCG was just an albatross around LSU's neck that they had to play because they they were unfortunate enough to beat Alabama in the regular season and win the SEC west title.

Not gonna happens. The SEC would lose too much in Bowl revenue

9 games is the way it should be with the expanded conference. the Big 10 and the pac12 both play 9 conference games and the Big 12, mainly because they don't even have a complete conference. When it comes to strength of schedule the SEC is falling behind and Mike Slive is lucky that the Big10/Pac12 agreement fell through otherwise we would be even further behind.

Well it settled the SEC champions. All I'm saying is the SECCG has too much money in it for it to be abolished. It's all about the bread now-a-days. That being said, I would love just as much as anybody to see every SEC team.

How many of his players would face all teams? If they are not good he sends them packing, and if they are good enough to stay and play, the majority of them are gone after 3 years.

that is incorrect.  The Big Ten still plays an 8 game conference schedule.

Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said the league recently learned from Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott that coordinating a nonconference football schedule for 24 teams across two leagues by 2017 proved to be too difficult. Delany said those complications included the Pac-12's nine-game conference schedule and previous nonconference commitments.

The Big Ten has previously discussed moving from eight to nine league games and could move in that direction now that league teams aren't playing a Pac-12 opponent every year.

"A great effort was made by both conference staffs to create football schedules that would address the variety of complexities, but in the end, we were just not able to do so," Delany said. "While everyone at the Big Ten is disappointed by the news, we look forward to continuing the historic partnership that we have with the Pac-12 and to working together on other matters in the future."

I think a nine game SEC schedule is the best way to go. It may hurt somebody, as far as a NC run, but it will greatly help S.O.S.. It means more money also. SEC games are sell-outs. Sister's of the poor usually aren't. Also we wouldn't have to pay the SEC team $1 million+ to play us.

That's the truth of it - saban rarely has a guy that stays his full 4 yrs - and hardly any that hangs around for 5 yrs.  I was shocked when I saw that Barrett Jones decided to stay another season.

Big 10 plays 8 game conference schedule  - And the SEC isn't falling behind any conference in any category.  :dunno:

There is no way we would or should stop the SEC Championship game. The game is a great game and it does have importance. Besides the money it brings it has helped SEC teams reach the title  more than hurting them.  Also the two teams playing are better than MOST matchups you get in the bowl games. Even though the bowl games are fun too because it allows for good out of conference games.  And as far as S.O.S. goes.  Show me a legit team that deals with more than an SEC team each year and then talk to me.  Each Auburn loss last year was to a team ranked 15 or better.  How many non-SEC teams even played 5 teams that were ranked in the top 15 when they played them.  Maybe some but could not be too many.  Plus you can not convince me that there were 10 teams in the country that were better than Arkansas or Georgia and they were not even our best teams.

I think he's saying: "I want to reach out today, for you to support bulls**t. I'm so impressed with the way my security team bars entry to the bathroom when I need to wee, that I think every bathroom in Alabama should post a sign that says, 'If weeman is here, you just gotta hold it.' Please support the idea that all bathrooms should be mine and mine alone."
