Many of us were saying "I'm not real happy we didn't get somebody better than Chizic, but he has hired a great staff so lets see what happens". 2 Years ago many were saying "I was wrong This was a great hire and we are national champions". Last year many were saying Roof has to go we don't play defense, and poof he was gone and along the way we lost Malzhon and Rocker. This year low and behold its is all Chizics fault. He made a really good hire in VanGorder. He knew he would eventually lose Gus but none of us were prepared for just how hard that was going to be. Through those 3 years many fans have gotten caught up in the recruiting gurus and their opinions. Fans have seen our classes rankings and assumed that it would translate into automatic success. A lot of so called Auburn folks are pointing their fingers at Coach Chizic wanting his head, but I don't think he actually coaches a position on the field. He manages the staff and makes decisions like punt or got for it, and manages the clock with timeouts. Im sure it goes deeper than that but he's not putting them through drills in group work at practice developing their talent.

Some of us have made the mistake of thinking great recruiters are great coaches. Great coaches develop recruits. What do you call coaches who recruit so called great players and leave fans wondering 3 years later where that 4-5 star kid is? Maybe we need to take a long hard look at who we point fingers at. Some may be getting a pass they don't deserve.

prospects like Frost at LB can't seem to get on the field even though we are very weak at LB.

Really don't see any PLAYER DEVELOPMENT of the few players that we have on team from

You are correct about the numbers but there are more there like frost that most don't acknowlege.

Has trovon reed, deangelo benson, for that matter is emory blake better now than he was 2 years ago? Is McCaleb a better back than he was 2 years ago, or is Mason any better than last year. Have any linebackers gotten better? I as well as many of the doomsayers should really go back and look at everything before we heap it all on the head coach and call for his head. I may be wrong but I think firing a head coach usually guarantees at least one more year of struggle if not more. And in some cases destroys a years recruiting.

I hear you but CGC has made three coordinator hires; Roof, Loeffler, and VanGorder. I could be wrong but I recall that Chiz and Malzahn were hired at about the same time and gene didnt have any say in the matter. Over the years they worked together CGC stifled Malzahn's offense to the point a former Broyles award winner bolted to Arkansas State (which leads the nation in total yards as of earlier today) Arkansas State? Fella must have had a burr under his saddle to accept that gig. Look at Malzahn's first year packages at Auburn, then look at his last year. Very different, very dumbed down, very much more traditional. Then look at the offense Malzahn called against Virginia in the Peach bowl last year. Back to vintage Malzahn.

Roof and Loeffler are unmitigated disasters. You might say we won a NC with Roof but I say we won one in spite of him. I think his team set dubious records for defensive futility at AU. Now we have Loeffler on the same track to set records on the other side of the ball.

Chizik does not coach a position- true. So we must then say that his value is as a top notch manager and evaluater of coachng talent. No sir. Not even close. I like the man but he has us on a bad path. Save the Cam Newton year (I know that's not fair but bear with me) Chizik is 17-14. Not real good.

As a developer of talent I could have taken a young Drew Brees and turned him into a janitor. Sadly I believe I would fit right in on this staff.
