AEAugirl 7,462
Does anyone think Luper could do a better job with the offense that CSL?? I understand Chizik needed a QB coach, but should he have moved Luper from within? It seems like we always heard that he was being "groomed" for when CGM left. I think Luper has the advantage of really knowing these players and their abilities and also working under CGM for three years. Thoughts?
NA Tiger 0
Yes, I think so. At this point, I think CBVG could call the offense better.
BaldDisciple 0
I always thought that after Gus left, Chiz would have Lupe and Troop as Co-OC. As far as a QB Coach goes, I know where we can find one currently coaching WR at a HS in Norman OK. He used to be pretty good OC a few years ago. JDUBB4AU 4,632
Someone on this board mentioned keeping leoffler as qb coach and promoting luper to oc..sounds like a great move..since the season is nothing more than an experiment for the future
auburn4ever 1,266
We'd still need a top QB coach who knows how to recruit the top QB's.
netwitt 1
Why not let them be Co-OC's and bring in a QB coach?
FearTheTigers 0
The co-coordinator situation rarely works and would be a big gamble. I doubt Leoffler would stay if demoted and I don't think it would be a good idea anyway.
PCBAuburnaFan 1
I like CSL as a quarterback coach, but i really do not know if Luper would know anything about being OC We need to bring in a proven OC not try and find a diamond in the rough. Also we should bring in a OC with a spread mind because that is what we have been recruiting over the last 3 recruiting classes. No offense to Luper but as i mentioned previously in a different thread, he can't get his running backs to carry the ball in the correct arm consistently i don't think he can run an entire offense. Whichever one is the better option.
AEAugirl 7,462
I'm not necessarily talking about on a permanent basis....maybe take over the rest of the season since he probably knows schemes that would work better with our talent. I wonder if there is some bad feelings between Luper/Trooper and Loeffler. I mean, seriously....it has to be somewhat of a slap in the face to them that neither was picked to run the offense yet a guy was hired and paid more that really doesn't have any more experience than they do. DyeCampAlum 335
In another thread, I mentioned that last year I wanted Luper promoted to OC. But right now, it's not that simple. I don't know if coordinating is Luper's thing, but he was schooled in the Air Raid. This isn't his offense in terms of philosophy. You don't just give a guy and offense he doesn't own at a philosophical level, and you don't teach players a new philosophy in one week. By the way, Air Raid is very easy to coach. Or so I've read. metafour 4,907
Luper has absolutely zero credentials to be an OC. Do some of you even think?
AEAugirl 7,462
One could argue he has as much as our current OC.
Ronin 2
One could argue he has as much as our current OC. Not well. You could argue he has as much skill but not the credentials.
metafour 4,907
One could argue he has as much as our current OC. No, you absolutely couldn't. He has zero credential and he will never be an OC at any non-joke D1 school. LMFAO @ this s***.
WarTiger 3,718
Luper has absolutely zero credentials to be an OC. Do some of you even think? No. Many of them don't. That's the bulk of the problem here. One could argue he has as much as our current OC. Actually NO, one couldn't argue that. Even making this statement is nothing but being uninformed. Luper will never be an OC at any school anywhere.
