BamaGrad03 146
The defense is playing much better. You have some good RBs. If it were me, I'd slim the offensive playbook WAYYYYYYYYYYYY down, pound the ball, and play for field position. Watching Auburn, it feels like the offense that is installed is tailor made for a QB who's been in the system for 3 years and is at the top of his game. That's not what you've got. If Auburn wants to win, they need to play to the strengths that they have currently on their roster. And they need to swallow the bitter pill that they aren't the 2010 offense that's gonna put 50 up on good defenses. I don't care if it is 3 quarters of 3 up the middle and punt - if you play field position, play good defense, then you'll at least have a shot in the 4th quarter. A grinding style also shortens the game - which would play to Auburn's advantage.

Strychnine 1,799
This probably wont end well.... Of course not, but it's actually just BG saying that Auburn should do what several here want: vanilla smashmouth football. That it's BG saying it means even those that agree will just attack Bama. Miden 0
Why not? The offense we've been trying to run for the past five games isn't working and results in more INT's than it does TD's. Running the ball up the middle all day can't be any less effective than our offense already is.
TitanTiger 18,930
I think he has a point. And others here have articulated something similar. Sell out to pound the ball, mix in a few sweeps here and there. Pass off of play action. Throw it no more than 12-15 times the whole game and use Fulse and Lutz on quick outs and delayed releases a lot when you do.

lca408 348
More of a blocker than anything else. He could probably run if they asked him to, but clearing the way is his specialty. I agree with you though. Set up the running game with Mason getting the majority of the carries. Try to win the same way Tubs did. Right now, it can't be much worse than what we're currently putting on the field. Ryan
Sully to Beasley 643
The OP is spot on right. I said the same thing after the debacle at JHS last Saturday. We need to go back to the basics on offense and establish the run first. We have the running backs to do it. To me, it is the only chance we have in our remaining SEC games. jvilletiger 0
Can Prosch carry/run? Or is he just a punishing blocker type? Well, he had 1 carry last week and drug 4 arkmart players for 4 yards. He'd definitely keep drives alive on 3rd and short.
AUld fAUx@ 2,584
Can Prosch carry/run? Or is he just a punishing blocker type? It is my understanding that, whether he can or not, he has never really carried/run much (though he has caught a few). Blocking specialist. I suspect, however, that considering our current blocking competence and ability to sustain drives, he could be of use even in that limited capacity. phillyeagle 71
"False start, offense number seventy-three. Five yard penalty, repeat first down." I'd say that's the main reason (not to pick on Robinson in particular, but I do hear his number called a lot).

japantiger 3,902
I agree .... we obviously can't do what we are trying to do...more than anything, we can run the ball...pound Tre in the middle behind Prosch and Lutzi or Fulse and go at it...face it, it can't be worse; would cut down on turnovers...then throw the occasional short play action pass...but run the damn ball....look at Florida...they ran 25 straight times against LSU...not pretty; but their in the top 10. I recall there being similar grumbling because of Zimba's tendency to jump the gun.

AuburnGrad97 37
This is all fine and dandy, so long as you have a coach that utilizes his players strengths, which we don't. Prosch is a bull-dozer, and he loves every minute of it. Sure, he may whiff on a block once in a blue moon, but mostly he is just driving 240 LB's backwards into the secondary, or blowing up d-linemen that dare get in his way. Only problem is, he plays one play, then it's off to the sidelines to sit and watch us fail to move the ball, and punt it away. There's no reason why we can't have a successful passing game, but Loeffler seems bound and determined to make Kiehl a static, pocket QB. Kiehl needs to move around, and do some designed QB runs, to get his rhythm going. Not every pass has to be 20+ yards downfield. We looked good on the shorter passes against Arky, but seemed to abandon them when we had Arky on their heels. Mason is our best overall back, and he gets 6 carries??? Wow, that left me scratching my head.
