Failing to establish consistency

Through 5 games, the Auburn offense has produced at least 1 first down in nearly 70 percent of their offensive possessions. The problem is that self-inflicted penalties, sacks and turnovers have prevented Auburn from building upon the first 1st down gained.

Scoring Pct for the season...

0 first downs: 4.8%

1 first down or more: 29.5%

2 first downs or more: 40.0%

3 first downs or more: 50.0%

Those percentages should actually be higher but turnovers alone have killed this offense.

1 first down or more: 29.5% turnovers

2 first downs or more: 25.0% turnovers

3 first downs or more: 37.5% turnovers

The sacks and interceptions are obvious "drive killers", another reason to lean on the running game to set up the play-action.

As always, appreciate your analysis Stat. Do you provide any of your analysis' to the coaching staff or do you know if they get it by other means? I sure think they should have all of your info.

Nice job as usual Stat Man! I had kind of already noticed that the sacks, penalties, fumbles, etc. seemed to be happening at inopportune times.

It's beyond me why the coaches don't run Mason behind Prosch about 60% of the plays. I understand that the defenses can load the box, but at least we would still go down swinging if it didn't work. That being said, the next game that I coach will be my first.
