Is it just me

Is it just me or is anyone else bored with the "wildcat"? It doesn't produce much and it disrupts the QB's rhytm. I know it gives Wallace a chance to get game time and calm any jitters he may have, but it is SO predictable. Don't use the wildcat OR let Wallce do something other than pick a spot and try to get a couple of yards.

Sorry if this portrays negativety......This is as gentle as I can be due to our poor showing.

You are correct. It would be different if we passed out of it, it does not even have to be the QB passing out of the Wildcat. It is missing any kind of variety.

I could easily be wrong, but it is my thought that the Wildcat relies on a speedy skill player (usually a RB) lining up at QB and having the option to hand off to motion, throw, or run it himself. It can be effective, as many have demonstrated. However it certainly doesn't seem to come as much of a surprise as we use it. We yank the current QB and bring in another, specifically to do this, which makes it quite obvious.

our implementation, of late, can hardly be called "wild"

This staff didnt know what they had with Cam until the 3rd game of 10. IF and thats a big IF, Wallace does get a real chance it will take this staff even longer to realize what he has to offer.

My issue is how often we do it right after Kiehl or Clint have hit a nice pass. Oddly enough I was listening to a game yesterday in my car (NFL) and some NFL coordinator did the exact same thing. His QB had been struggling and finally completed a 50-yd pass. You'd think you'd want to take advantage of this confidence booster by letting him keep going. Nope, yanked for a wildcat play that produced 2-3 yds. We've done the same thing numerous times and it makes no sense.

I'd love to hear the rationale that goes into pulling a struggling QB for a play right after he finally makes a good throw.

Not only is it predictable, it sure didn't help KF with the jitters and comfortable factor.

The wildcat has passed it's time. It was a nice wrinkle, having the ball snapped directly to a rb. But as always with gimmicks defenses have caught up with it.

Particularly the way our braintrust utilizes it. Without the threat of the qb throwing a pass out of it, the opposing defense loads up against the run.

I've not been a fan of the way we've used the "Wildcat" for two years now, and three out of four when you go back to 09 and Kodi running the WC. If we're going to do it, I want to have a running back line up there (and maybe split the QB out wide rather than replacing him) to run, because that's his job in the first place. Establish it as a threat, and then when the defense starts creeping up too much, shock the hell out of them by having a player who ISN'T a quarterback throw the ball. That's a big part of what made Darren McFadden so successful in that role, because the defense was far too worried about his running ability to guard against the pass enough.

Don't understand the wildcat when AU runs it. We have four RBs plus guys like Bray, Reed and others who are quick and have played QB...and instead put in a back-up QB who has average speed.

If the wildcat back is a real threat...like the guys UF and Bama and Ole Miss use as their wildcat, it offers a good threat...but our wildcat plays are usually some variation of a QB draw. Waste of time.
