It seems most of you have quit on this team and Coach Chizik, and yet I bet all of you would say it's unacceptable (which I agree with) for our players and coaches to quit at any point during a game or season. Has Chizik made mistakes along the way? YES. Will he learn from them? I think so. Does he need to make some really tuff decisions after this year? Absolutely. If we aren't a MUCH improved football team after the end of next year will I be typing this same message of support? Probably not. Look, we've been in every game in the fourth quarter with either the lead or a chance to take the lead and without a rash of mental mistakes I think we win most of them. It's clear to everybody that we're not a good football team, but I think we're closer than some people think. We don't need a revolving door down there. We need stability and like I said earlier, I think Chizik learns a lot from this year (because he is still a fairly young head coach).

Yes, I've quit on Chizik. I have absolutely no confidence in him as a coach. He was 5-19 at ISU for a reason....how's Paul Rhoads handling a place where "you can't win"?

You build stability it is not handed to you.

Foundations are not built upon incompetents in key positions.

We have not had stability in our Athletic Dept. since JJ became AD and

remember the definition of Insanity, "Doing the same thing and expecting differeent results."

See Chizik's record as a HC.

Time to build stability from the ground floor iMHO.

I agree with Tigerwalkin. We should support our team and coaches. Most people want to beleave we have more talent than we do.What talent we have is very young. If we support our team and bring in this recruting class next year we should not be playing catch up.And if there is no improvement I'll be ALL IN for cleaning house.

At some point in every coach's career, if/when they have a downturn, you have to ask yourself whether you believe that he can turn it around. If your answer to that is 'yes', then obviously you give them more time. But if your honest answer to that question is, 'no, I don't believe he's going to be able to pull off the turnaround' for whatever reason (he's lost the team, his decision making is questionable, whatever), then you do what you have to do. It's not being disloyal to make this evaluation and act on it.

Please, for the love of heaven above, stop making threads questioning others' loyalty or love for Auburn based on how they answer the above question.

Love and loyalty are two different things and if what i've been reading on this board showcases loyalty then, wow, my life is way out of whack. So let's see, it took us 53 years to win our second NC and I'm pretty sure Chizik was our coach at that point and if i'm not mistaking he had to navigate some pretty rough waters to make that second NC become a reality.

The roughest waters he had to navigate was to come to the conclusion that Curtis Luper, Trooper Taylor, and Gus were right---sign this JC QB out of Blinn Community College by the name of Cam Newton. Chizik initially didn't want to sign him, but those 3 assistants had to convince him to do so. And, he inherited a team full of juniors and when they were seniors in 2010, they were ready.

It is unacceptable for the players or coaches to quit since they are all paid a king's ransom. The players are given a free education, fitness training, diet and nutrition training, exposure to showcase their skills to the professionals, and exposure to promote their name and brand for after school endeavours that are not football related. The coaches are paid more than imagineable. I am paid nothing and my attendance on Saturday has zero to do with the outcome of the game. These fans that think they actually effect outcome are insane.

Regardless, it's neither a lack of love nor loyalty to believe that the program is on a downward trajectory and you don't believe that Chizik is going to be able to turn it around. Good people can disagree about this but I'm going to be locking threads or deleting any posts I see from here on out that question other people's love or loyalty to Auburn over the issue.
