Early Enrollees

Please forgive me or lock this thread but i can't seem to find a list of our early enrollees. How many do we have and who might they be? I heard this morning where "The other team" has 9 enrollees for this class. Is that alot? My understanding is that those that enroll early, tend to have a better chance of seeing the field sooner and making an immediate impact. Just looking for clarification and information.

Thanks in advance and WDE! :wareagle:

We have three, all JUCO guys. One RB, one DT, one OL. You can check on one of the "committment" lists for names. All are said to be in school and participating in winter workouts.

Nine is a lot, a school has to have been doing their homework to have that many lined up. We could have taken four that would count back on the 2012 class, but only managed to get three.

It's not essential that early enrolees count back, they can also count on the current class. It's just that if you have slots for early guys to count back, it's best to fill them first because those slots are "use 'em or lose 'em".

Nine early enrollees is a lot. I think we are seeing another smart move by the coach across the state. If you get them in early, it takes them off the market, so it's basically an early signing period. Plus they get to participate in Spring training and integrate in the system which is a HUGE advantage.

VERY smart in my opinion. Either we will see this trend spread to other programs, or the NCAA will enact another "Saban Rule" to curtail the practice. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I seem to recall Urban Meyer bringing in something like 13 early guys one year at Florida. It's not new, but it is smart.

And yo add to what Mike said, for the other team to have 9 EEs they had to have no more than 76 on scholly after December graduates and players declaring for the draft because because a school must always be at or under 85 scholly football players.

UGA laughs at 9. They just brought 18 EEs in.
