Since everyone is getting depressed over the post about heartbreaking AU losses why don't we talk about some gratifying victories? I'll start:

1. 1982 Bo over the top

2. 1989 first Iron Bowl in AU

3. 2010 comeback in Turdscaloosa

4. 2010 BCS Championship game

5. 2004 LSU

Great list.I would put the 72 punt Bama punt game up there, even though I was just six when it happened LOL.

The beat down of LSU during our championship run in 2010 was pretty special.

1. 1982 Iron Bowl - Bo over the Top - After beating the Bear and ending Alabama's 9 year streak, this game should be a unanimous #1.

2. 2010 Iron Bowl - The Comeback - Beating Saban & Alabama in Tuscaloosa after being down 24-0, proved to me that this team was about to give us our first National Championship since 1957.

3. 2010 National Championship - The Kick - The actual game that gave us our second National Championship and cemented Wes Byrum in Auburn lore.

4. 1989 Iron Bowl - The First - The game that Bear Bryant said would never happen, we beat the undefeated #2 ranked Crimson Tide.

5. 1972 Iron Bowl - Punt Bama Punt - Our offense couldn't move the ball and we couldnt score until two late punts that Auburn fans will never forget.

Yes. Punt Bama Punt should be in there. I guess was thinking more in my lifetime. Isn't it fitting how most of these are Iron Bowl wins?

I like that 93 AU/UF post even though I had to listen to it on the radio. Jim Fyffe's call of the Calvin Jackson INT return in that game was one of his all-time greatest calls. The 94 Florida game at the swamp was pretty exciting too! Taking down a number one team is always special.

I'm not very old so my list is more recent than most probably are.

My all-time favorite Auburn win is the 2001 Florida game. If it weren't for the wind I don't think we would have won. Damon Duval hooking the game winning FG was awesome.

1. 2001 Florida

2. 2002 Alabama

3. 2004 LSU

4. 2010 Alabama

5. 2006 Florida

6. 2007 Florida

7. 2005 Georgia

8. 2005 Alabama

9. 2011 South Carolina

10. 2003 Tennessee

All the other obvious ones are listed, but for me, the one that gave me the most euphoric high was 2007 Florida--winning at the Swamp, vs. a top 5 team, 21 point underdog w/ 3 true freshmen on the OL, giving UM the first of just five home losses at Florida, Timmy crying, winning twice, the gator chomp, "Thenator Holth"...need I go on?

Ok there are some great games already listed so Im just going to add one not mentioned. 2009 West Virginia game "The Rain Game"!! This had to be the most incredible thing Id ever seen in my life. My wife and son left after the first quarter because they were drenched and miserable. Of course I couldnt leave. The student section was insane. If anyone ever doubts the commitment or passion of our students, this game should end that discussion FOREVER!! They willed our team to victory that night.

The only other comment I'll make is that the 93 UF game was the first time I had stayed in the stands after the game ended still cheering our boys. I was an undergrad then. During the 2010 season, I never left the stadium less than 45 mins AFTER the games ended. So the 93 UF game for me is on the same level as every regular season game (except the IB) of the 2010 season. And that's rarefied air my friends!

I have an idea how old you are, but if you were my age, # 1 would be 1989. The bammers were NEVER coming to Auburn, and never tired of telling you how your team had to come to their home-away-from-home in bamaham just to have the privilege to play the mighty tahd. So now you know why Pat Dye can do most anything, and guys my age forgive him.

First, thanks to WE1982 for changing the subject to something happy-making.:hellyeah:

Secondly, I don't think I can improve on the games that have been proposed.

But, personally, I wouldn't include Punt Bama Punt! in the running because it is really in a category by itself. It wasn't so much "gratifying" as it was "awe inspiring".

It was more like divine intervention.

November 1963....Auburn 10 - Bama 8....my senior year at AU. What made this so gratifying is that I had been to the FOUR previous Iron Bowls and AUburn did not score a SINGLE POINT in those games. To score some points AND win the game in 1963....priceless. :bananadance: Note also that AU lost the next 5 Iron Bowls until Pat and Terry showed up. That 1963 game was truly a rose found blooming in a desert.

Thank God my father lived to see that game, in person.

(But he didn't have a ticket for me. :'( )

I think some honorable mentions should be: 94 LSU interception game, 86 4th quarter comeback and Tillman reverse in Iron Bowl, 89 Slack to Wasden on 4th down to beat Florida, and believe it or not I always remember the 02 Syracuse win (down 17-0 then Carnell put them on his back and they came back and won in OT).

2007, Byrum beats the gators twice in the swamp 20-17, anyone?

Also, has anyone brought up 2006 LSU game? Great stop at the goal line by Eric Brock to move to #2 in the nation at the time.

2005 vs Georgia in Athens is another candidate

I think my top 5 would look something like:

1.) 2010 BCS Championship- I know it's cliche but I just felt a sense of just pure happiness and felt I was on top of the world when byrum put it through.

2.) 2007 at Florida- just wonderful

3.) 2010 at UAT- the Camback

4.) 1994 vs LSU- just unbelievable that we kept picking off passes.

5.) 1982- Bo over the top- the freshman phenom breaks bama's streak

Honorable mentions:

2004 SEC Championship- a competitive game and a fun one to watch knowing that we needed to win to have a shot at the title game

2005 at Georgia- underdogs pulling it out late

2003 at Arkansas- went to Fayetteville and took down the number 7 hogs

2009 Outback Bowl- crazy

2010 vs Clemson- great true blue game finishing with me watching the students go nuts behind the goalpost when the kick was missed, causing me to do the same as well

2004 LSU- seemed to be destiny to win that one

1989 Iron Bowl--it seemed like a pipe dream that we'd ever play Alabama at home, but it happened and I was fortunate enough to see it up close and personal. Winning a piece of a 3rd straight SEC title was gravy.

2010 BCS title game--that one was for the '83 and '04 teams that got shafted. I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever see a MNC.

1993 Iron Bowl--capped off an amazing 11-0 season that hardly anyone saw coming.

1994 @ Florida--16/17 point underdog? No sweat...OK, I lie...a lot of sweat. That was a white-knuckle ride all game long. My neighbors heard a lot of noise and thought I was in trouble or something. That was just me raising hell.

1990 FSU--strictly personal. We'd lost 3 straight to them. At the '89 game, their band taunted us by playing our fight song after the game. Well, we flipped the script with a late FG to win and we chopped them out of Jordan-Hare...karma was indeed a (word that rhymes with "witch") that night.

If we're going by the true meaning of "gratifying" and not necessarily historical importance, here are mine. I'm basing these on personal gratification only.

(Note: I spent the first 14-15 years of my life raised a Bammer until my step-father did the Lord's work and helped me see the light, so my games are much more recent than others.)

In no particular order:

1) 2011 AU vs. Mississippi State

This was the first time following the Cam stuff that we played the only school ever known to discuss money with Cecil Newton. Dan Mullen, his wife, and that entire fanbase were chirping about not only Cam, but how they were on the rise. Stopping them on the one sent me into a tizzy because that might have been the one time I've ever really despised MSU.

2) 2001 AU @ UGA

My first road game. UGA fans were acting as they usually do, so watching Mark Richt run the ball with no timeouts from the 2 yd line was simultaneously one the funniest and happiest football moments I can remember. Following the game, not only did I pick some of the hedges, but I also took a picture with my AU hat on top of the UGA statue where the dogs are buried. This was also my first road game, which I attended with the above mentioned step-father.

3) 2009 AU vs. West Virginia

If you attended the game in Morgantown, you understand. To this day, I've never been treated that poorly anywhere as an oppsosing fan, and I've been to a lot of road games.

4) 2002 AU @ Bama

This was the first time that I stepped into BDS as a visiting fan. I had seen probably 40 games there previously. My step-father and I bought tickets by schmoozing sorority girls who then offered us to come eat lunch in their house across the street from the stadium. Later I may have threatened to throw a Bama fan over the top of the stadium for touching me and challenged a whole section to sing their fight song (they couldn't). That entire day remains one of my favorite Iron Bowls, including eating dinner in Tuscaloosa post-game.

5) National Title Game

Easy one to spot, but gratifying for so many reasons. So many people gave me crap for going to AU, for switching sides, etc. I spent that weekend with my mom, step-dad, and friends from Auburn in Phoenix and met up with them after the game since we all had different tickets. The post-game hugs went on for at least 5 minutes that night followed by beer and cigars.

That 07 Florida game was EPIC. I was at big spring jam in Huntsville and I can't remember who was playing but they were big. Anyways, everyone stopped watching them and made there way over to the giant projector screens showing the game. When auburn won the second time, a stage hand came out and told the lead singer and he announced to everyone that auburn won, and surprisingly the whole crowd seemed to erupt in cheer. It was a magical night for me.

No offense intended people but a great number of special moments in Auburn lore occurred before the year 2000....are there any adults on this board ? :dunno: To know what a great moment truly was, you first had to experience the depths of the 60s...or the Barfield years...though even at my age and all the AU games since my time at AU, the Camback still ranks up there at #2.
