"We feel good about the guys we have," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn told AL.com before speaking Thursday to fans at a Tiger Trek event in Daphne. "We've got two guys currently, we've got three coming in. We feel like all of them can play."

The big-time prospect will have some programs tripping over each other to get him on campus, but Auburn appears to be comfortable with its incoming haul of junior college transfer Nick Marshall, and in-state freshmen Jeremy Johnson and Jason Smith.

Marshall has yet to arrive on Auburn's campus, but the former Garden City (Kan.) Community College star said Tuesday on Twitter he plans to enroll in June.

"We're still working through all that," Malzahn said Thursday. "But we feel good about the plan with everybody coming on board."

Great Turnout in Daphne. Here are some pics I took at the event. Not the greatest, but I was there. That is my football the girl has in her hand for him to sign. Malzahn said the past semester was the best academic semesters in Auburn Football history. That's an awesome thing to hear.

One fashion tip for Gus: Collar Stays ... they work wonders. :)

Seriously.

I was a fanatic about making sure I had collar stays "on the road".

But maybe Gus should assign an assistant for that. ;)

He talked about looking only forward. Do not concern yourself with what happened last year. Look forward. He was addressing this to the players and even related it to the current game being played. Forget the bad plays and focus on the next one. He spoke of each position and named most every player by name as he talked about the position. He said there will be growing pains and that we have deficiencies but the bar is set VERY HIGH.

He talked about the coaching staff and the vast amount of SEC coaching experience that is on this staff. Gave high praise to all coaches and specifically mentioned Melvin Smith and how he coached the Thorpe award winner last year at Mississippi State. Then he reminded us all that the Thorpe award winner last year was a 2 star player. Smith coached him up to the best corner in the country.

Already mentioned I believe, but said it was the best Academic semester in Auburn football history. Noted many players. he said Auburn's defense will be extremely physical and mean and nasty. Said they spent 20 minutes or more EVERY SPRING practice working on tackling. Players are clearly buying in to what the new staff is doing. Everybody is working hard and everybody on the staff is on the exact same page and headed in the same direction. Overall, I really enjoyed the way Malzahn spoke to the crowd. He even took questions from the crowd.
