Oh, well that's ok then. Civil liberties and the Bill of Rights be damned if you think it put Americans at risk, Mr. AG. No subpoena necessary, just ignore the 4th Amendment.

I'll also say this...purely from a strategic standpoint: Is it the smartest course of action for an administration that the media has largely fawned over or given favorable coverage to go and piss off the press?
