Lost the link on what i wanted to post from last nite. It seems that Older White CONSERVATIVES are the only ones watching MSNBC and specifically Maddow at this time. Most Liberals have actually tuned them out during these scandals.

Maddow is insufferable no matter what side of the aisle you're on. I don't consider myself dedicated one way or the other but I stopped by her show for a second last night because there was a clip playing of the possible new FBI director that was interesting. As soon as Maddow came back she gave the most hyperbolic praise of someone in the most overly dramatic way possible. It was so saccharin it was painful to watch.

Ugly, mean, lesbian. Not a good combination to attract viewers.

And those who didn't tune out already should have when she starts lying.

To me, it seems that MSNBC's entire day of broadcasting, beginning with "Morning Joe" and ending with Lawrence O'Donnell's show, is nothing but bash Republicans and prop up Obama. Show after show after show. Schultz, Matthews, Maddow, O'Donnell, Hayes, Sharpton, Scarbrough (he's a RINO), Brzinski...the list goes on forever. At least Fox does actually broadcast news during the day. And, if you actually watch the Fox nightly line-up, only Hannity would be considered the extreme right-winger. O'Reilly, while a bit bombastic, does go after both parties and van Sustern also seems to be more moderate on issues, although she does seem to show and quote Limbaugh way too much for my liking. Just my observation...

Before they decided to become the TV version of Air America, MSNBC was my cable news channel of choice. And Maddow wasn't actually that bad when her show first started. But once MSNBC fully embraced their liberal alternative to FNC strategy, I just couldn't take it anymore. I normally watch CNN now. The opinion shows on both MSNBC and FNC turn me off.

Well, if the subject is "worthwhile TV", did anyone catch the NOVA on the Boston Bomber?

It is undoubtedly the best summary/documentary on the subject to-date and includes a lot of information on the technology of surveillance and indentification which is both fascinating and disturbing.

MSNBC is crazy in an off-putting way. Not nearly as hilariously awful to watch as stuff like "The Five" on Fox News.

The 5 , with its collection of hotties, is pure gold. Or would be, were it not for that blubberous Bob Beckel.

I need to bookmark this for the next time you claim not to watch Fox.

I watch The Five. from time to time. Does that mean I watch FOX News, wall to wall, morning day and night ?

Never claimed I don't watch at all.

I'm not a Beckel fan but the man has overcome huge personal problems in his life. Addictions to drugs and alcohol. I've also heard he will do anything in his power to help other addicts.

Bob has earned my respect in many ways over the years. I may not agree with him all the time, but i absolutely do not think he is one of the drive-by politicians that infest both the Right and the Left these days.

Well for what it's worth, he hasn't helped me! :homer:

But say what you will, he isnt the type of pol that watched polls nor the latest focus group. He is who he is because has taken the time to earnestly review and contemplate the issues of the day. He isnt perfect at all this nor is anyone reading this.

Beckel for all his flaws:

Doesnt read talking points from the boilerplate email du jour.

He doesnt mindlessly parrot the party line word for word, ad nauseum, every time he is on the air.

He doesnt mindlessly troll the partisan blogs and Moveon.org, DailyKos, MediaMatters, etc to find out what he is supposed to think for the day's news cycle.

Bob Beckel went on the BIGGEST cable news network as the "informed, mature opposition" that he is today.

He is the polar opposite of the news trolls employed by Fox & MSNBC and for that i am eternally grateful.

i once quoted Beckel to a liberal radio talkshow host. The host started to tear me apart. i reminded him that Beckel is a true grounded, thinking liberal that probably forgot more today than 99% of what passes for the news media today will ever cumulatively know. There is a respect that we need to have in the debate for the guys that are doing it right. That are going on the daily shows, outnumbered, and still putting up a great debate.

Beckel is the anti-Maddow, the Anti-Klein, the anti-O'Donnell, the anti-Soledad O'Brien, and the anti-David Pfeiffer. He is a breath of fresh air for those that are tired of "gotcha journalism and gotcha debate."

Earned your respect how? I don't get the love fest that this guy seems to generate. He's a buffoon. Straight up. Where's the redeeming quality with this guy ? :gofig:

He certainly hasn't over come his massive addiction to excess gravity.

And ZOOM...the whole point went over your head...

Taking a pop shot at a guy for his girth rather than his gravitas is exactly why i like the guy. Bob Beckel, in general, i wont say never has, but in general, he is the guy that wouldnt do what you just did, do a gotcha with the cheap shot that has zero meaning in the overall debate. And for that alone, i thank him. We need more grownups in politics, not more of the ignorant average Fox/MSNBC drive-bys...

Beckel is far from " a grown up" , imo, and I don't see him as much more than a standard Left wing mouth piece.

Funny, because when Rush was a whole lot heavier, the Left felt no hesitation to call him on being 'fat'. Michael Moore ? Heh... completely gets a pass. Rush loses a bunch of weight, and he's still referred to as 'fat'. Oh, and drug addict. Can't forget that one for Rush either. Beckel over came addiction ? Wow. I never knew. Of course, I never hear anyone on the Right calling HIM a druggie, or addict either.

To be honest, I don't even know who Beckel is.

Did he go on rants about how drug users should be thrown into jail, including the white people who were making money off drugs? Did he advocate deporting drug users? Did he say:

"And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."

- Rush Limbaugh

Yeah...not really making much sense when ya cherry pick like that, out of context and all.
