RunInRed 18,691
"It's been an easy sell, to be honest with you, because it's Auburn University," said Craig, who was in Mobile on Thursday to speak at the DEX Imaging L'Arche Football Preview. "You just have to come in and you have to understand what's at stake, as far as the weight the name carries in the state of Alabama. There are two schools that are very prominent in the state right now, and it's always going to be that way."My job is not to mess it up. ... That's what I always said: When I become a coach at Auburn University, my job is not to mess it up."..."This is a fertile ground for athletes," Craig said of Mobile. "I don't think it was a primary focus to say, 'Hey, we have to go back in and make a presence.' But you always want to have a presence, because this is our home state."I think I have 39 years' experience recruiting, playing, coaching and being a fan of this university and I think that's helped me out a lot," he added. "Being able to grow up in it as a fan, being recruited as a high school player to play in the game, and to now coach, I've seen every aspect of it. So I definitely bring a different angle than a lot of coaches that come down here and recruit this area. I can kind of relate to what every player that's being recruited down here, what they're going through. ... I'm very proud to be from Mobile and it's an honor for me to come back here and recruit these kids, because I know what type of kids I'm getting."..."If you go back and look at the history of his offense back at Tulsa, when they were breaking all the records, he had a quarterback throw for 5,000 yards," Craig said. "I didn't even know that. He had a quarterback throw for 5,000 yards, two 1,000-yard receivers and a 1,000-yard rusher. Then you get Cam Newton, he throws for over 2,700 yards and rushes for about 1,200, and he's more of a mobile guy. There's only one Cam Newton. But (Malzahn) has been able to adjust. That says a lot about him and his creative mind offensively."http://www.al.com/sp...cruiting_f.html

ValleyTiger 2,894
DC is the man in South Alabama. It's good to see the number of Mobile area pledges to the good guys. It was bad enough to have the turds poaching the Mobile area, but the LSU presence made it worse, for me.

Dixie1860 27
I really hope we are able to keep this staff together as long as possible. The combo of a CGM offense along with all-time great SEC coaches on D mixed with arguably two of the best recruiters in the country now back home for the first time will put us on as close to equal footing with bammer as we will get in recruiting. In fact if sabear hadn't taken 3 of 4 last Natty's in would be managable already. Let them slip a bit while we are challenging and it will get interesting for sure. * *This has been your dose of daily sunshine in Dixieland.
