Mason at 2nd team? Eh.

Georgia's backfield should be first team by itself. Then Bama.

Shows you just how bad things have gotten defensively the past few years. ONE player on the FOURTH team.

I agree. Overall, I would say Steele is being generous.

Ive never heard of a "4th team" mentioned in any sport or pole.

He's gotta sell magazines and the way to do that is include as many players from as many teams possible on the All-SEC preseason teams. It took 4 to get all of Auburn's on there. Preseason predictions and magazines are the biggest waste of time and money. They can't predict the season any better than I can. He predicted UAT and UGA to play in the SECCG. Hello Captain Obvious. Pointless if you ask me.

Call me a hater all u want ( which i am), marshall and gurly should have been 1st team. The other kid should be 2nd team, last yrs offensive line did him wonders

I think he led the team in tackles. But I think that says more about the ineptitude of the front 7 than anything else.

Respectfully disagree. Yeldon is the real deal and I think they got the first team right. I would put Marshall on second team with Tre though.

Freakin shame that Steele doesn't put even one single AU player on the 1st team - Auburn and Kentucky were the only teams that didn't have a player listed on the first team. :puke:

Yeldon, Cooper,Kouandjio, Mosley, Belue and Clinton-Dix are the real deal. I hate it but they have some really good players. I don't know much about the other 2 but they are probably pretty good too. Yeldon was a huge miss for us. Think about the team had Kouandjio and Yeldon come to AU and Pike panned out. Ole Chiz might still have a job........Maybe.

By the way Cooper is probably the best WR in the SEC and he will just be a soph this year.

They could end up with the best WR corps in the country. Cooper/Norwood/Bell/Jones/White/Black (he is just as good as Cooper/injured preseason) - not sure we'll see them produce sky-high numbers due the saban's propensity to run the ball so much, but they are all very good.

Yep. Unfortunatley for us Bama has a really good team. It will be that much sweeter when we beat them.

I don't know if I consider those guys 1st team All Conference or not. The fact is, I don't anything about most of them because I'm an Auburn fan but I will say this; its no surprise to me that the team that has won 3 out last 4 BCS NCs, coached by a guy who is revered by the media as the best in the business would have 7 1st teamers. NO surprise AT ALL!

I hate it.....but can't blame or criticize PS at this point. We had the talent last season and showed nothing. I can understand folks wanting to see what Gus and his staff can do with the team before they give any recognition. If we can win 7 or 8 games, there will be some more guys getting recognition on conference teams. ...until then, this "lack of confidence" by the media should provide a little extra incentive.

It always has. Historically, Auburn has been quick to disappoint but, in these kind of years, when the flew under the radar they have demonstrated a tendency to outperform very low expectations. I got my fingers crossed.

Man... LSU has really dropped in Steele's rankings. They had 17 in total on Steele's PS SEC teams, which is down to 9 this season.

Of all the prognosticators out there, I think Phil Steele is one of the best. Very difficult to pick every college team and project them year to year because so much can change.

As for the preseason SEC team, we should not be surprised Auburn wasn't represented well because of the 3-9 season. I do believe a few players on the current roster will make their splash in 2013 and the current Steele rankings will change next year. It is a preseason evaluation, which means the listings are based on past history. Also a player like Jay Prosch won't make his list because he did not rank fullbacks.

It is a shame he didn't rate fullbacks...like you said Stat...3-9 doesn't cut it for making a pre-season mag...now I also believe that some of our guys will light it up this year....watch out west WE ARE COMING! WDE

I could see the possibility of several AU players making their mark in 2013.

I could see another OL making at least 2nd team All-SEC by the end of the season.

A DL, possibly Dee Ford making 2nd or 3rd team All-SEC.

Possibly Justin Garrett

One of the CB's making 2nd or 3rd team

Possibly Cameron Artis-Payne making 2nd or 3rd

Possibly a WR making 3rd team.

No all above but the possibility of some.

Agreed. Steele has a track record of being one of the better Prognosticators in terms of team achievements go.

LSU lost a lot - but they've got a lot to reload with. Tons of 4-5* players that got early playing time last year, and Miles & Co. know how to develop that young talent. They will be a good team again this year, and will be in the fight for the SEC West.
