Good Grief! What is the matter with these people? Kidnapping? Really? And who in their right mind leaves a young child on the side of the road?

It will be interesting to see this one play out. Based on the article, it sounds like they have evidence that his car was involved but not him. Almost sounds like his mom did something stupid and drug him into it by using his car.

Let me guess, the car was a Dodge Charger???? Maybe a Yukon Denali????

Close...a Cadillac. And it seems to be more than just his car being used...

http://www.al.com/sp...nt_details.html

Okay, I'm just going to say it... How in the heck does a college aged kid afford a Caddillac???????????

I'm currently an out of state student at AU. Both my parents were successful engineers and both retired before I finished HS. I have a brother who is also at AU. I'm on scholarship, he is not. I have worked 40 hours a week every summer that I could. There is NO way that I could afford a Cadillac and my parents sure as heck won't buy one for me.

So that begs the question... how does this kid afford one? I'd like to know! IMO (and I know this is going to shock EVERYBODY)......... It was a "Signing Bonus", if you will.

Will they investigate the origin of the car? I don't know. Do I wish that they would? You betcha.

Since this happened in Mississippi, the REC will be limited in it's protection there.

If the son agrees to testify against his mother, he may get off on a reduced charge.

I didn't have a new car but I did have a good used six-year old Ford. Me nor any of my classmates had anything like a new Cadillac. I don't like conspiracy stuff but there have simply been way too many kids at UAT that grew up in poverty and show up over there in $1,000 suits and expensive luxury cars. I don't expect anything to be done about it because bammer is a TV cash cow. But to deny that there is something very, very wrong over there doesn't make sense.

I'll tell y'all what's wrong. Too many people try to find reasons why others can't be successful or have good things, Not a soul on this board has any evidence of wrongdoing but, just because they can't or couldn't have nice cars or clothes, those that do are crooked, cheating or worse. Y'all have no idea what his circumstance might be. I hate cheaters just as much as the next person. I also have a burr under my saddle for those that spread baseless conspiracy theories -- that's right, baseless -- about others because, well, they just can't possibly have decent things because I didn't.

I put two sons through AU and I am far from a rich man, but I made damn sure my sons had a decent car. One was even -- gasp -- an Infiniti. It wasn't new and it had a lot of miles on it, but from its appearance, a biased person might well prejudge him as having been born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

All of this poor-me finger pointing at the REC from this side and at the Never To Yield Foundation from the other side is a sad commentary. If you have proof, shout it from the mountaintop. Just don't blame others for your own shortcomings. Maybe one day you can buy your sons and daughters a Cadillac and the 'other side' can swear it was a gift from Never To Yield. They damn sure won't believe you worked hard so they could have it.

kickenwang, I appreciate your comment. I sometimes wonder if most folks have a grip on the realities of life. You want to drive a Cadillac or a Yukon? I can take you to a half-dozen places that will gladly sell you one and it doesn't matter what your financial circumstance might be, There are buy-here, pay-here car lots in every town and whistle stop in America, and they will take your money quicker than a cat will take catnip. If you know anyone that's had to declare bankruptcy, then they'll tell you that every new car dealer in their market has sent them a letter telling them that they can get financing.

I can promise you that the REC or Never To Yield has nothing to do with it.

The only reason I pointed it out was because so many athletes at UAT that seemed to grow up in rougher neighborhoods get to school and suddenly have enough money to buy expensive cars, suits, etc. I worked and paid for a large portion of my car, as my parents matched what I put in, so I'm not saying people can't have nice things (I drive a 2010 Acura). I'm just saying these circumstances seem a little fishy to me.

I don't know anything about his family. One of his parents could be a brain surgeon and bought him the car, I just don't know.

Before they can take your money, you have to actually have some money for them to take. If financed, the buyer must pay for insurance. I got through college because I went into the military first so had my VA benefits. It was still a tough go financially. Your sons are fortunate to have a family that can help them through.

Do you know what kind of cars Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown drove around Auburn as students? They both had old clunkers, Caddy's had masking tape over a place where a window should have been and Ronnie was always having to get help to push his off. Carlos Rogers talked about owning one pair of jeans so he had to wash them every night. That's the kind of things one would expect college students from poorer backgrounds to have to do.

I cannot identify a logical course of events that allows kids from public housing projects to purchase $1,000 suits and $50,000 cars. I couldn't have done it. Your sons didn't have new Chargers or Cadillac SUV's. A kid I know that lives near here went through Auburn on a football scholarship and the first "jazzy" car he had was purchased after he'd signed with an NFL team.

So, what's your explanation for player after player at UAT possessing these luxury items?

Mikey, a better question might be, what is your explanation? Pointing fingers, making accusations about the REC? I understand completely your comments about driving clunkers and having one pair of jeans, But, that doesn't apply to all or even most college students. I don't have an explanation; neither do I blame the REC or dishonorable alumni. Could they be involved? Sure. Stranger things have gone on in this world. But there is no proof at all unless you want to call rampant speculation 'proof'. But, please, don't point to the NCAA, ESPN and al,com as to be part of a wide-ranging, quite unbelievable conspiracy. Don't become part of the problem. If you have questions as to the validity of any particular individual owning an expensive car. at least do yourself the courtesy of looking into it before contributing to internet fodder. You don't have the time or resources? Me either. So, I;ll take care of my business.

On the surface it looks sketchy for sure. But there is no proof yet. If there is some wrong doing something will come out eventually. In a few years something will be exposed and Bama will be backhanded just like USC was IMO. Yea, a few years after the fact isn't as nice as doing it now, but nobody on this board would act like they wouldn't be happy to see the empire Saban has built have to vacate everything

I like you, AuburnDad. You're going to be labeled a Bammer by the homers, so have fun with that lol

But yeah, people here act like Auburn athletes don't drive nice cars and wear nice clothes. They do. I once got an explanation for this on AuburnEagle in the form of, "The REC may be behind the special treatments just to make Auburn look bad and face potential sanctions." It's not healthy to be this obsessed with anything.

The Cadillac he drove wasn't exactly a new one. From the pic it looks like a 2005ish model and the Devilles don't hold their value very well.

What causes all the "conspiracy" theories is the fact that bammer has been doing shady things for many, many years. These shady things are done blatantly, almost mockingly, in the face of the NCAA, and NOTHING ever happens. If I see McElroy, McCarron or other players from well-to-do families driving Yukons, Cadillacs, Chargers, etc., it's easy to think nothing. When I see players like Trent Richardson, who by all accounts, didn't have a pot to piss in when he got to Alabama, driving a $50,000+ Yukon with $8,000 worth of rims on it, I tend to think something shady is going on. When I see Dre Kirkpatrick driving a $45000+ Dodge Charger, with a custom paint job, and his mama driving a brand new Mercedes, I tend to think something shady is going on. Do I know for sure??? No. What I do know is that I am sick and tired of bammer getting a free pass with suits, laptops, textbooks, cars, autograph signings, players endorsing businesses, players getting free fishing trips, etc., and nothing ever being done about it. This crap dates all the way back to Bear Bryant's days, and other than a couple of slaps on the wrists, bammer has gotten off pretty clean.

To make matters worse, I have to listen to every media outlet across the country do their best to destroy Auburn's reputation because ANOTHER team tried to pay a kid's father to get him to sign with them. So am I a little bitter? Yes. Am I going to vent my frustrations when I see stories like this basketball player get buried on page 13 of the bammerham news, under the ad for Little Caesar's new pizza?? Yes. I'm not one to believe in conspiracy theories, but when you see it repeatedly for 20+ years, it stops sounding like a "theory", and more like reality.

Please don't take this as an attack on anyone on this board. This is just my personal opinion on the subject. Personally, I would like to see the Auburn Family go on the attack more with stories like this. Force BSPN, FoxSports, etc. to run a ticker across the screen all day for months and months talking about bammer arrests, bammer rule breaking, etc.

It's always easy to accuse the rival of cheating, than it is to say they are just better right not. Football runs in cycles and EVERY program goes thru good times and bad times. We just need to work harder, which I think our present staff are doing, and catch up.

It's not A player with inexplicable possessions. It's not A FEW players with such. It's been a constant stream of them for a number of years now. Law enforcement investigators look for a pattern. There has been enough of this over there that a clear pattern has been established.

Try as anyone might, there is no amount of speculation or explanation that can make this pattern fall within the realm of normal events.

Those of you who don't want to see it, that's your business but please don't try to tell those of us that have eyesight that we're not seeing something. It's there and we see it.

White Tiger, it's got nothing to do with who is winning or losing. What it's got to do with is numerous kids from low income circumstances driving cars and wearing clothes that normal people in a two wage-earner family can't afford.

Then why don't you do something about it? If you're so aware, so confident that there is illegal or even criminal activity occurring and you don't do anything about it then, by law, you're just as guilty as the perpetrators. Take pictures, document your findings, do research to qualify your accusations. Otherwise, you're just slandering and libeling people and organizations that do not meet your definition of kosher. Anybody can go on the internet and do what you're doing. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I don't know if there's anything going on or not. You just need to man up. If you can prove even one of the claims you are making, you'll be a hero at Auburn and half the other schools in the SEC.

I know, I know. You're too busy, you don't have time, you don't have the resources, you shouldn't have to do somebody else's job for them, you're just stating the obvious, you can'f fight the REC by yourself, you...(stop me when I get to the one that applies), the NCAA won't do anything about it, etc. etc, etc.

That's just my opinion and it doesn't reflect on just you and, when all is said and done, it isn't just about Alabama and their lying, cheating, stealing, scumbag, worthless piece of crap ways (pardon me if I borrow from a thousand other posts). It bothers me to no end to hear the same old song over and over and over ad infintum. Don't get your panties in a wad. DO SOMETHING!

If you don't know something is going on it's because you haven't been paying attention.

To address your point about me doing something, taking pictures and so forth, it appears there is no need. There have been any number of pictures and other documents made public and nothing has been done. Obviously pictures and documents aren't sufficient to get something done and since I'm not inclined to acquire signed confessions at gunpoint I'll just have to be content to gripe on the internet.

And gripe on the internet is ALL anyone can actually do about it. Some folks just refuse to give it a rest.

The best way to get retribution is to beat them on the football field. Something that very few teams have been able to do in the last 5 yrs.

All the damn suits, cars, rims, fishing trips, textbooks. tattoos in the freakin world doesn't make a QB execute his passing game better, it doesn't make an All-American center block better, it doesn't make a RB run faster and harder, it doesn't make a team physically dominate their opponent, or give them the ability to play fundamentally sound football on a consistant basis.

i gotta ask, do y'all think LSU & UGA are cheating worse than UAT? Because in the last decade both of those teams have a freakin 7-3 record over Auburn while UAT only has a 4-6 record in same decade. :dead:
