The 14 characteristics are:

Powerful and Continuing Nationalism

Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottoes, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights

Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause

The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

Supremacy of the Military

Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

Rampant Sexism

The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

Controlled Mass Media

Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

Obsession with National Security

Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

Religion and Government are Intertwined

Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

Corporate Power is Protected

The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

Labor Power is Suppressed

Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .

Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts

Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

Obsession with Crime and Punishment

Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

Rampant Cronyism and Corruption

Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

Fraudulent Elections

Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

What is "fascism"?

http://www.publiceye.org/eyes/whatfasc.html

Fascism is a form of extreme right-wing ideology that celebrates the nation or the race as an organic community transcending all other loyalties. It emphasizes a myth of national or racial rebirth after a period of decline or destruction.

Fascism is hostile to Marxism, liberalism, and conservatism, yet it borrows concepts and practices from all three. Fascism rejects the principles of class struggle and workers' internationalism as threats to national or racial unity, yet it often exploits real grievances against capitalists and landowners through ethnic scapegoating or radical-sounding conspiracy theories.

Its vision of a "new order" clashes with the conservative attachment to tradition-based institutions and hierarchies, yet fascism often romanticizes the past as inspiration for national rebirth.

Fascism has a complex relationship with established elites and the non-fascist right. It is never a mere puppet of the ruling class, but an autonomous movement with its own social base. In practice, fascism defends capitalism against instability and the left, but also pursues an agenda that sometimes clashes with capitalist interests in significant ways. There has been much cooperation, competition, and interaction between fascism and other sections of the right, producing various hybrid movements and regimes.

****The unevolved, idol worshipers who elected him need an image to worship.

By the way - I don’t say they are unevolved, they say they are unevolved. An idol is an image of perfection. They do worship images of perfection.

In a few years, they will all be wondering:

Why did God let the dollar bottom out?

Why did God let interest rates soar?

What did I do, that God is foreclosing on my house?

Why God, is the world against us?

Why did God let the United States go broke?

Why does God want us to live under Marshall Law?

They will pray and pray and pray and they will never know the answer.

God Save America from the unevolved, idol worshipers.

Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying CauseThe people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

Would that be like the liberals ranting on & on about Christians? Or the religious right as they are so fond of saying.

Rampant SexismThe governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

Oh those liberal Democrat talking points about Christian conservatives and Republicans.

Controlled Mass MediaSometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

Kind of like the main stream media being in lock step with the Democrats?

Obsession with National SecurityFear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

As opposed to the Democrats who would rather leave our National Security up to the United Nations.

Aren't you glad you don't live in a fascist country?

Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights

The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

This administration has freed over FIFTY MILLION people from brutal regimes, 2 of the worst regimes on the face of the earth at this point in our history, 2 with the worst human rights records in almost all of human history. This administration is working very hard to change an entire region, to bring it out of the middle ages in to the modern era where human rights are respected.

If you think you have more to fear from the current American Government than most of the current Middle Eastern regimes, please, you are free to leave, this is not 1930's Germany.

The 14 characteristics are:

Powerful and Continuing Nationalism

Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottoes, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

Sounds like the Democratic National Convention to me... ;)

You mean like the Clinton Adm did in Rwanda? Like Carter did in Iran and in Nicaraugua?

Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause

The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

See Michael Moore et al for enemies of the Left. Scapegoats indeed! My God, every Leftist in the country is having a scapegoat life time. They blame hard working everyday Americans for the failures of others. They scapegoat any convenient conspiracy theory they can imagine. Read: Conservatives, the Religious Right or whatever bogus moniker they use form the latest set of Talking Points. Ie VWRC, The Right Wing Kabal. How many examples do you wish to refute that the Left is actually the ones doing exactly this?

Supremacy of the Military

Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

Do we need to talk about this one more time? It is not 9-10-2001 anymore...

Rampant Sexism

The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

Oh Please....So anyone not throwing away 100% of their personal and religious believes is a Fascist?

Controlled Mass Media

Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

 See CBS/Rather threads everywhere... See the Fake Documents Story in the media.

Obsession with National Security

Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

Again it is after 9-11. Or maybe you mean the "Fear" of Starving Children, The "Fear" of Homeless Elderly, The "Fear" of rampant Racism? Every election cycle, the Dems trot out the same "Fears" over and over again.

Religion and Government are Intertwined

Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

So does Marxism! I know of NO Conservative that wants this. I know they all want total Freedom from Govt control of any kind. Freedom OF Religion never meant Freedom FROM Religion.

Corporate Power is Protected

The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

 Well you just described the same guys that run the Dem Party too...

Labor Power is Suppressed

Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .

Actually Hitler very effectively used Labor Power in the Putsch Movement.

Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts

Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

The Liberals and the Left Supported Hitler before the War! He was the Darling of the Dinner Party, Academic, Set. Hitler was a huge source of Funding FOR his art of Propaganda. Ever heard of Reifenshtahl?

Obsession with Crime and Punishment

Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

And this is different from the Left how? Sounds to me you are describing USSR, Cuba, n Korea. This does not vaguely sound like the US.

Again, See Clinton and Travel-Gate, etc.

 I guess only getting to vote for one candidate as in USSR is superior to this? What a joke! Did you know that Mr. Gerry was a Dem? The man who gave us Gerrymandering was himself a Dem.
