If the football staff can't approach him, his trouble has got to be somehow with or through the AU administration. It could be legal or not, but the administration is the authority that would ban the staff from contact.

It may not be presently but they may be keeping the staff away from him in order to prevent any legal problems down the road.

If it's a matter of discipline - and I DO NOT know that it is - then Malzahn cannot ignore it. The breakdown of discipline was one of the core issues tht caused Chizik's eam to fall apart.

Maybe he's headed to Jax State where his fellow LB's Landrum and Gaston ended up. We can't seem to catch a break at the position.

I'm one of the people usually saying we don't need have any automatic right to know what "personal" problem got a player in the doghouse with a coach...but this seems to be different. The issue, whatever it is, does not seem to be between the player and the coaching staff.

So a couple questions for Ell.....was he in school this past semester?...and was he ever seen at practice...if not in uniform, just along the sideline talking to other players?

If grades, then how come the football staff, in Johnson's words, "can't approach Swain"? I have a hard time making any sense out of that if it's grades or some football related thing.

In Montgomery today Gus said "The issue is between me and him" so you never know...maybe the defensive coaches can't "touch" him because Gus is whoopin his ass punishment wise...

If it were academics one would think the athletic dept would be all over him with mentors and monitors to "help" him get his classroom stuff squared away. Unless I missed it somewhere, we still don't know if he was in school this past semester.

I take it as a very good sign that one of the big things on the minds of AU fans is the situation about a reserve linebacker who will probably drop to third string when this year's recruits Davis and Williams join the team. There have been years when we wouldn't notice Swain because of more pressing issues.
